Are you sure it wasn't Brock Steel? He's listed as a LB.... younger brother
Brock is still wearing that hefty leg brace over his pants.

Aren't the Coon brothers also from Sheridan?

Steel is also sneaky strong, and does a great job of running through a tackle.
He's a three-time state champion wrestler in Wyoming. Gatorade Football POY. 4A offensive AND defensive POY. Prep team won three straight 4A titles while he was there.
Wasn’t Dane the one that scored all of the points in one of those games? Seems like he scored on offenses, defense, special teams and was the kicker also. It was a crazy performance. When you can get Gatorade players, you are doing something right. There are and have been a lot of then on the team including Derek Snell (AK) and I think Isaiah Ifanse. Current ones include Taco, etc. Seems like the GPOY players are often leaders as well as excellent players.

Nice story about Sheridan-MSU connection.

MSU - 17 team National Champions (most recent 2025); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

BTW, shout out to Meredith for making the hit that should have got a td for Taylor!
Wasn't the hit from Seth Johnson?
Yes it was Seth Johnson who made that hit & forced that legitimate fumble that the refs stole from us. 55-23 Cats final score

Brock is the older brother, Dane is younger

With Coy being the oldest that played for the Cats.
So that’s:
Coy
Brock’s
Dane
…..or CBD, which any opponent that runs into Steele during a football game needs to help with the pain.

I understand this thread started by a misunderstanding, but we should turn it into a Dane Steel appreciation thread.

That kid is harder than woodpecker lips…

He’s been a revelation this year.
A revelation. A championship TD to be remembered in Bobcat lore forever.

I didn’t see but heard that his TD was #1 on sportscenter last night. One of the most athletic plays I’ve ever seen.

That's correct and Taco's td run was #4.

While registering my vehicles the assessor stated "I have had both Cat and Griz students and alums work for me and the Griz end up working under the direction of the Cats."

I believe Dane was originally behind Long on the depth chart, but elevated due to Long's injury. Sure didn't take long to establish himself as an MSU great as a receiver and on ST. (A little surprised he's stayed on ST, but he's a tough kid). Also great to chat with.

Can't make up my mind as to which is better - 55-21 or 48-14, but 34-11 will do, but 48-23 may be the best of all.

It seems like King was the one whose reps dropped. Long, Steel Dowler, and Woods top 4 by mid season.

What a great kid!
Coy, I told you years ago that you would make a difference to Montana State and Bozeman Montana. You deserve as much credit as anybody

Dude is a rising star! I would say he was the most surprising breakout player on offense.

I’ve watched the replay of that TD multiple times. Unreal athleticism.

You best get out the way when the Dane Train is in motion!

Dan Davies always tells me to give “the scoop” before the game (he’s just humoring me). But this time I told him Dane Steel was going to do something tonight.

Sam Lecholat from there was a pretty salty MBB player the last several years too! I second your annexation motion! All in favor say “AYE”.
I was just thinking about how cool it would be to see a billboard dropping into Sheridan that says “bobcat country” for this very reason

Put it on the highway right after I-90 and I-25 converge after Buffalo: Entering Bobcat Country.

Eastwood, did not make it. Ball out! Recovered, by Montana State!! The Bobcats hold!!! The Bobcats hold!!!
