SFA is a good team, and I expect them to play well, and make some big plays. However, their line play can’t match ours, and that will be the difference. I think we win handedly.

I feel this way and certainly hope we're right. I also felt the Cats would dominate Yale on the lines... didn't.

I made it past Boozeman, but V eye gan got me. Just couldn't take anymore.

Can't make up my mind as to which is better - 55-21 or 48-14, but 34-11 will do, but 48-23 may be the best of all.

Understood, but I think it's a fair question, if the forecast for this weekend was much colder/snowy/rainy, what would a team from East Texas do to try to prepare. Buckets of ice water for offensive skilly players hands?

Weather doesn't look like it will be an issue

I just think back to the Ash era when Sam Houston came in here on what was a much, much colder Friday night and blew the Bobcats out. Temperature won't matter at all. Wind, now that's a potential difference maker. They like to throw the ball a lot, but MSU's offense really struggled going into a light cross-headwind against Yale so that might be a push as well.
Temp as a difference maker is over blown. Both teams are dealing with it. I think the only time when it comes into play is if the northern team is noticeably better and gets out to a 2 or 3 score lead. The south team often quits, and the rout is on. Think W@M a few years ago. After the Cats got up on em a few that team wanted no part of a December game in Bobcat stadium.
That was very noticeable with W&M. It didn't happen gradually, it was immediate. Once their initial adrenaline high wore off they no longer had the energy to put up a fight.

The field was super icy when we played Bill & Mary. Remember the high drama about it. Hopefully, our Friday Night Lights mojo continues. The Cats offense has typically rolled in these games and the crowd has been rowdy.

I’d be interested to know if going to an indoor practice facility and cranking up the air conditioning would replicate a cold weather game.
Given that most of your A/C systems would struggle to put out air cooler than about 50, and that most of these buildings have to have fire sprinkler systems, I'd think it would be very challenging to get a space below about 55-60 degrees with conventional systems. If you were in a colder climate like ours where you could just push in outside air, you could get colder when it's colder outside, but you still have the sprinkler issue so you might as well go outside.
I was joking

There’s not much you can realistically do except try and get things as close as possible. I was hoping the team would fly out a little sooner, at least Wednesday, so they could have at least an extra day to practice in the elements, but it looks like they’ll head out Thursday morning, giving them an evening at least to practice in it.

My bigger worry is the altitude. But this is the deepest SFA team we’ve had ever since I can remember, as depth has always been the problem with our teams, so I’m hopeful.

It does go both ways though. I remember when we played you guys in 2013 i think it was. The write up from yall said something about how yall had to deal with the sweltering 88 degree temperatures. In September in East Texas 88 degrees is a cool day, so I always have a little chuckle about it. Then again I saw people just this week in heavy coats and gloves in 50 degree weather.
The environment in east Texas is about as different as it can be form Montana. I have family in Shepherd TX and have spent some tome down in the Big Thicket hunting hogs. Coming later is better for acclimatization, I don't think the weather or the elevation will be much of an issue for your team. Hope your fans will come through the tailgates and have a drink or two, just wander through and I think you will be offered lots of drink and conversation.

I don't know about that. There's a reason why our defense is top 3 in the nation in yards per game, points allowed, etc. It all starts with the big boys up front!

For everyone traveling to Bozeman, drive safe. Looks like from Great Falls down to Big Timber and east is going to get hammered with snow and frigid temperatures. Leave early if you can.

Absolutely bizarre weather forecast. 9 out of 10 times, Bozeman is the same or colder than Billings.
Currently the forecast for Friday is 35 degrees warmer in Bozeman than Billings.

Need to leave a little early, anticipate likely bad roads for half the trip, but should be fairly clear past Big Timber.

No offense but SFA's SOS is 51. The Cats is 5. Kinda comparing apples to sprockets.

Well, nobody here is going to have anything critical to say about this press conference! Love this guy.
Accept for the fact he’s ducked us a couple time leaving us high and dry to find a new game. Looking forward to karma showing up in bobcat stadium friday night.
He was more pissed than anyone that the game got cancelled. It was the SLC that forced it to be cancelled, not SFA.

The SLC scheduled us a conference game the same week that we had previously scheduled to play y’all, and it couldn’t be rescheduled.

Unfortunately it made us have to schedule a horrible sub D1 opponent last minute. Everyone in the athletics department I know was extremely upset about it.
Sure you're aware, but that home & home got replaced with 2 home games against Mercyhurst and we've been catching crap about it for two years now. Last minute scheduling sucks.
It certainly does suck, but it's still wrong to insinuate that the SFA coach is the one who initiated the cancellation of that home-and-home series. He's clearly very excited to come and play here.
I never said that. Just commiserating about trying to fill schedules with quality opponents.
I certainly wish we could get more Big Sky or MVFC teams down to Nacogdoches for out of conference play. We’ve struggled heavily to get quality OOC games for years in several sports, and it’s not for lack of trying. Many schools don’t like to visit Nacogdoches because it’s kind of a hassle to get to. Closest airport is 2 hours away, so away teams always have to land in Houston or Shreveport and make the additional 2 hour bus ride. You’d think it wouldn’t be that much of a hurdle but it really is.
How do your fans travel? hoping to see some purple on Friday night :suds:
SFA fans can travel pretty well for bigger games. Just from what I’ve seen online and from alumni there should be quite a few fans making the trip. The university is actually chartering a fan plane from Longview to Bozeman Friday morning as well. $1000 gets you the round trip ticket and game ticket.
That's Awesome. Stop by ANY tailgate if you make the trip.

SFA has played some monsters of the FCS - UT Rio Grande Valley, Northwestern State Demons and Houston Christian University.

I'm not saying they are bad. I'm just saying declaring they are #3 is a bit disingenuous.

Pretty much all of the stats leaders for defense in the FCS haven't played anybody.
