From a VERY good source:

Vigen has made it very clear that if any MSU player goes to the portal, they are DONE. No second chances if they don’t get picked up. If they aren’t all in, they’re out.

If Scottre has said he is going to the portal, he’s done at MSU. To date, that has not happened.
I don't peg him as a dumb kid. So if he is doing it he isn't going to make it obvious. Again I said RUMORS. I'm not saying it is facts.
I’ll say this: I hate rumors. Most end up being bull$&@! anyway. So why even post them?
You say most of them end up being bs...I disagree. What happens more than anything I've found is that the rumor is true to some degree but when it starts floating around things change and then we say... see its bs.....I don't report blanket rumors from any of person... if I'm saying its a rumor its coming from some pretty reputable people.... that still doesn't mean it's fully true... you have to understand I know A LOT of college and nfl coaches personally.. like I went to high school with them or played with them, been in their weddings, etc. People hit me up all the time with info because sometimes I can help them sort out what they heard.

You don't have to like the message, is what it is.... but its something that is being floated around and I don't believe it's true but it might possibly be true....I don't know
Now that this is a new reality, what do you think is the best way for a player to go about this? I'm assuming the coaches and players keep an open dialogue when offers are getting floated but maybe not in all situations? Would like to know your thoughts.

Unless it was Carr (and I don’t think it was), Humphrey was limping pretty bad on the sideline on Friday night from my vantage point. The way he was moving, he didn’t look ready to play.
Aggravated his ankle injury against UT Martin that he's had since UC Davis. Tried to give it a go pregame and coaches shut him down. Likely will be same scenario this week.

As for NIL rumors, money does get offered prior to them entering the portal. That is a new reality of CFB. However, pretty sure Scottre will finish out the season with MSU no matter what.
This couldn't be further from the truth. Money is offered in advance SO YOU DO go into the portal.

I never said he wouldn't finish out the season, just saying there are rumors and I hope they aren't true. You don't have to like but it's what I'm hearing from various non msu sources.
I'm agreeing with you and that's literally what I said. Money is offered in advance to entice players to enter the portal. Doesn't mean they enter but that's the reality now. 6 of our best players were offered 6 figures prior to our season ending last year and three of them decided not to enter and take the money.
Yes I was corrected and I apologized above.... when I'm wrong I admit it and take responsibility and offer my apologies... and I did that already.
Yes I saw that. I'm a dummy for not reading past your post. Love what you bring to the board!
And I you..... appreciate the kind words

He's well connected because he's Jhase McMillan"s dad.
Actually I'm not. I'm not his father but yeah I'm a fan of his and his older brother.
Hmmm... That sounds like exactly what Jhase McMillan's Dad would say if he was trying to stay anonymous on this board. 8-[

Just jokes BBT! I've really appreciated your contributions here this year.

This is tricky tbh. It all depends on the personalities of the people involved. Ideally I'd like to see clear communication from both parties. The kid communicates they are being contacted, I don't expect them to trek the schools involved, and let the coaches know what kind of package they are offering. The coach can choose to meet that package or decline to counter offer. If the athlete goes in the portal and doesn't get picked up and we don't full that spot allow the athlete to come back if they want to. This way there isn't any lying going on. Everyone keeps it on the up and up. This way coaches get a chance to cover offer kids get a charge to stay off they would like but still get the monetary increase they are seeking.

Currently coaches act like babies and get their feelings hurt and tells a kid they can't come back if they go in the portal. Yet these same coaches are in the portal themselves. These coaches will tell you it's a business when they up and leave or go on interviews but amen it comes to the kid is now personal. I don't like that. We hold the kids to higher standards than the coaches.

If you were Coach Vigen, I have even more regard for your posts, especially those during games without a smartphone on the sideline.

Definitely seems like it could be a down year in the Big Sky in 2025, although any team is only one off-season away from building their roster back into a contending one.

MSU - Great coaching staff in place if Vigen stays, but lots of talent to replace.
UC Davis - Same as MSU
UM - Yikes
PSU - Always have some talent but never can turn it into consistently good play.
Sac - New coach, should have some geographical recruiting advantages so could be a fairly quick rebuild with the right hire.
EWU - Has been on a downward trend but has stuck with the coach.
Idaho - Total rebuild job
Weber - Has been bad under New coach, another rebuild job given portal losses
NAU - looks to be on the upswing under Brian Wright
ISU - same as NAU, Cody Hawkins is finally a good hire for them. Might need a couple years still to build.
Cal Poly - Seems to be improving but slowly.
UNC - Is UNC.
Portland State and Northern Colorado need to be relegated down to DII

PSU has made the playoffs in the last 10 years, they always have a scrappy team and seem to be in the middle of the BSC as often as not.
Witht the madden center going up CP may have an upswing.

Agree. I'd say EWU should drop to D2 before PSU...

With the current state of their program I would agree, they have so many issues, financial, support and coaching, kinda sad.
