Now that this is a new reality, what do you think is the best way for a player to go about this? I'm assuming the coaches and players keep an open dialogue when offers are getting floated but maybe not in all situations? If Scottre has said he is going to the portal, he’s done at MSU. To date, that has not happened.
You don't have to like the message, is what it is.... but its something that is being floated around and I don't believe it's true but it might possibly be true....I don't know

As for NIL rumors, money does get offered prior to them entering the portal. That is a new reality of CFB. However, pretty sure Scottre will finish out the season with MSU no matter what.
I never said he wouldn't finish out the season, just saying there are rumors and I hope they aren't true. You don't have to like but it's what I'm hearing from various non msu sources.

Re: Current thoughts
This is tricky tbh. It all depends on the personalities of the people involved. Ideally I'd like to see clear communication from both parties. The kid communicates they are being contacted, I don't expect them to trek the schools involved, and let the coaches know what kind of package they are offering. The coach can choose to meet that package or decline to counter offer. If the athlete goes in the portal and doesn't get picked up and we don't full that spot allow the athlete to come back if they want to. This way there isn't any lying going on. Everyone keeps it on the up and up. This way coaches get a chance to cover offer kids get a charge to stay off they would like but still get the monetary increase they are seeking.VimSince03 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 12:01 pmNow that this is a new reality, what do you think is the best way for a player to go about this? Currently coaches act like babies and get their feelings hurt and tells a kid they can't come back if they go in the portal. Yet these same coaches are in the portal themselves. These coaches will tell you it's a business when they up and leave or go on interviews but amen it comes to the kid is now personal. I don't like that. We hold the kids to higher standards than the coaches.

Portland State and Northern Colorado need to be relegated down to DIIMSU01 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 9:40 am
Definitely seems like it could be a down year in the Big Sky in 2025, although any team is only one off-season away from building their roster back into a contending one.
MSU - Great coaching staff in place if Vigen stays, but lots of talent to replace.
UC Davis - Same as MSU
UM - Yikes
PSU - Always have some talent but never can turn it into consistently good play.
Sac - New coach, should have some geographical recruiting advantages so could be a fairly quick rebuild with the right hire.
EWU - Has been on a downward trend but has stuck with the coach.
Idaho - Total rebuild job
Weber - Has been bad under New coach, another rebuild job given portal losses
NAU - looks to be on the upswing under Brian Wright
ISU - same as NAU, Cody Hawkins is finally a good hire for them. Might need a couple years still to build.
Cal Poly - Seems to be improving but slowly.
UNC - Is UNC.

PSU has made the playoffs in the last 10 years, they always have a scrappy team and seem to be in the middle of the BSC as often as not.
Witht the madden center going up CP may have an upswing.
