He ran pretty well against PSU. But they were throwing quite a bit because PSU is a poor pass defense. We'll definitely get to see Gilman and Osmo.

Re: Popular egris narrative
The other popular narrative among Griz fans is that the 2 point win @UCD shows the Cats are vulnerable.
That game was a 3 score win made close by the refs.
1) Down 30-8, they turn it over on downs, but the refs throw a flag on a bogus DPI. Powdrell got run into by the receiver; it was a blatant, desperate attempt to get the officials to bail them out and it worked. If the refs don't help them there, it's MSU ball 1st & 10 on their own 8 yard line with 6:58 to go, up 22.
2) Still down 30-8, Larison fumbled going into the endzone and the refs didn't even look at it. Ryan Tootell, who is no Cat homer, said it was an obvious fumble. So the refs gave UCD new life twice on that drive. If the refs bothered to even look at it, it's MSU ball 1st & 10 on their own 25 with 6:21 to go, up 22.
3) Down 30-15, Chaz Davis gets 77 yards off a blatant OPI. I'm basically convinced that the ref got his wires crossed and announced DPI on #4 of MSU when the official who saw it told him to announce OPI on #4 of UCD. Regardless, they blew the call and what should have been 3rd & 12 from the UCD 9 yards line turned into 1st & 10 from the MSU 4 yard line. The odds that the Aggies would be able to drive 91 yards and score in the remaining 1:49 are basically nil.
So in the space of about 6 minutes, Davis was dead in the water three times and in all three instances the refs gave them new life. If the officials manage to get even one of those calls right, the game is over at 30-8 or 30-15.
Certainly the Cats could have done some things better, but they still did plenty to win comfortably.
As it is, I'm glad. MSU will have that much more fuel in their fire. But it's hilarious that Griz fans are putting hope in that outcome.

Very good points. I’m not usually a blame the refs type of fan, but those calls/non calls are hard to ignore. They were huge.Lord Vigo wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 5:16 pmThe other popular narrative among Griz fans is that the 2 point win @UCD shows the Cats are vulnerable.

If that game plays out 1000 times I don’t think you’d get the same combo of big plays by Davis, missed tackles by the Cats, blown calls by the refs, absolutely perfect bounce on an onside kick, etc.
That last 6 minutes had it all. Everything that could go wrong, did, and the Cats came out on top. I’ll take it.

OK, say AhYat IS out and with all the sacks we hope to get, Fife is injured. Who is #3?

Is that Brown kid still on the roster? Far awhile they all thought he was the savior. They also have a Sliter kid that might be QB#4

All very good points. And honestly, I've wondered if the missed tackles on that long run weren't because the players saw the flag, knew it was OPI and expected it to come back, so why put in the effort? Obviously you must play to the whistle, lesson learned, but they're still young men at the end of the day, and expect games to be called fair.Lord Vigo wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 5:16 pmThe other popular narrative among Griz fans is that the 2 point win @UCD shows the Cats are vulnerable.

Re: Popular egris narrative
That's a good observation about the same numbers. I noticed that two of the officials were staying behind as if the play was coming back. You'd think the official making the call would correct that error. It's also hard to understand how Johnson was on the ground and Chaz Davis (too many Davises in this game) was not when there is pass interference. I guess Johnson could've slipped and fell while trying to interfere, but none of the camera operators were able to keep that part of the play in focus. Johnson was also protesting as he got up until he saw the flag and it's safe to assume that he was satisfied that the play would come back.
I'm sure it's been talked about elsewhere, but what about Bryce Grebe catching Chaz Davis. Davis may or may not be an especially fast WR (he's listed at 6-3, 210, so I'm guessing not) but Grebe is a linebacker coming in at 6-2, 225. He took second in the 100 in the State C meet, so he's fast. That was a great effort and something you don't see often. Trying to not digress here too much but it has me wondering what MSU is doing to increase the speed of its athletes. Seems like players, as they should with age, I suppose, get a lot faster after they get to MSU. Troy Andersen and Mellott being prime examples. Both were very fast in HS, but Andersen set some kind of LB record for the 40 at the NFL Combine and Colter/Brookes Nuanez both said something about 'wait until his pro day' about Mellott and one of them said something about running a 4.33 40.

It did look like the defenders basically stopped on the play, the PI was just down the field to the left of us and by the time the reciever and defenders got in front of us, the defenders slowed down on the play and were looking back uop the field at the area of the flag. LITERALLY EVERYONE in the stadium knew it was coming back.nanacat wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 10:39 pmAll very good points. Vigen was beyond irate with this call. Did he bring this up at the QB club meeting? Was there a meeting this week?BgCATfan wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 12:24 pmIt did look like the defenders basically stopped on the play, the PI was just down the field to the left of us and by the time the reciever and defenders got in front of us, the defenders slowed down on the play and were looking back uop the field at the area of the flag.
