Mature people never get frustrated with their situation.lutecat wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 9:55 pmI'm not sold that the tweet was about what people think it was. I just don't see it. Fife was invited to talk at a presser early in the season and on his pod, CN pointed out how rare that is with BH. And spoke about his maturity. A mature qb doesn't tweet something meaning what people interpret it to be. So I just don't see it meaning what people thought it meant.

It's a train wreckMSU01 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 9:05 pmI think recruits are starting to pay attention as well. Just look at the list of Montana kids who have committed to MSU this year versus the list going to UM. Good thing for Bobby that he Bergen'd his way to Frisco last year or I'm not sure if the fans and administration over there would have anywhere near this much patience with his crap.

You really think he'd transfer away from his dad's Alma mater if he didn't play as a freshman?JudithBasinCat wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 6:41 pmMy guess is that he was playing this much to keep him happy so he doesn’t transfer.

I guess it just depends on what’s more important to him; just being at his dad’s Alma mater, or actually getting to play.nanacat wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 8:57 amYou really think he'd transfer away from his dad's Alma mater if he didn't play as a freshman?JudithBasinCat wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 6:41 pmMy guess is that he was playing this much to keep him happy so he doesn’t transfer.

Strange part is why aren't they using the Bobcat method. If Fife is that much better, then let the kid get the team to a big lead first. Then Ay Yat with the first team for a series or two, then the rest of the way with the scrubs. Wilson already has over 100 reps of live action.JudithBasinCat wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 11:15 amI guess it just depends on what’s more important to him; just being at his dad’s Alma mater, or actually getting to play.nanacat wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 8:57 amYou really think he'd transfer away from his dad's Alma mater if he didn't play as a freshman?JudithBasinCat wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 6:41 pmMy guess is that he was playing this much to keep him happy so he doesn’t transfer.

The problem with this approach is that while Fife is considerably better than Ah Yat, he's not anything special. Neither him nor the team is good enough, in most games, to build a massive lead that would allow for backups to play.ClowderUp wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 11:20 amStrange part is why aren't they using the Bobcat method. I would have agreed until I read the stat lines. It seems Fife is actually significantly better than Ay Yat, so one can't say for certain about the big leads in these otherwise close games. There have been several that qualify as is (Morehead, UNC, Poly). I'm wondering if they didn't rotate in the NAU, EWU, Weber, and WCU games if they could have been much bigger leads. Sometimes it's a moment early that changes the whole course of a game. Could those moments have swayed these games in the gris favor without the idiotic QB rotation? Regardless, I think we agree Bobby is a complete dumbass with this approach.Lord Vigo wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 12:28 pmThe problem with this approach is that while Fife is considerably better than Ah Yat, he's not anything special. I think those stats are misleading because of how tiny the samples are. Their stats for Fife are from three games— WEB, EW, and NAU. Only one of those teams (NAU) can play a lick of defense and Fife was bad in that game.ClowderUp wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 1:29 pmI would have agreed until I read the stat lines. Fife is a B- QB. Better than average, but not special. So he’s better than Ah Yat, who is more like a D right now, but the Griz would not be world beaters with him as the lone QB. They’re just not that good.

MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Bobby's whole philosophy is that you don't have stars in your program-- it's all about the team rather than the individual. Everyone has to compete, no one is handed anything, no one is given the red carpet treatment.
I actually love that in this era of college sport.
In my opinion, the problem is that he undermined his own credibility with how he handled Robby. He tailored the defense to get Robby cheap stats and then tried to control the #37 process so that Robby would wear the legacy number.
I think that debacle was a major sea change for how people viewed the way Bobby operates. It remains to be seen if he can stick it out until it all blows over.

Re: FCS Games 11/9
Part of the problem with the stats is that Bobby clearly isn’t rotating on a consistent basis. He is pulling QBs when they don’t look good, so the stats where Fife alone plays doesn’t tell the whole story. It sure looks like they flip Ah Yat or Fife in as a direct reaction to how the other is playing. It’s more trying to see what sticks. So the QBs are allowed to stay in when they look good against bad defenses and pulled when they look bad against good ones.ClowderUp wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 1:29 pmI would have agreed until I read the stat lines.
