Unless I missed it, looks like we went strait to Coon at that point.

I think Jared is a great receiver out of the backfield and a good runner. It's weird to think he's dropped behind Coon. If Scottre comes back next season and all the rest of the current backs do as well, plus the emergence of Latin-Henley, I think Jared might just hit the portal. Sad, because I think he is a quality young man and player. That's college football though. I miss watching Elliott too. I'm guessing his career at MSU is done.

Interesting. He had 6 carries for 42 yards and a TD with the 1s. I don’t recall him having any opportunities to break a long run. I saw him make one great cut and I’m watching the game now. I think his carries with the 2s may show some hesitation etc but that’s to be expected.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2024 8:28 amNot as explosive, jump cuts were slower, danced too much.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2024 4:37 amNot the same in what way?BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 5:17 pmMight be the defenses best overall performance. I just watched the replay and he made a couple cuts/moves that looked pretty good to me. Nine of his 15 carries were with the backup OL. Coon only had 20 yards on five carries with them.

I liked the reactions of Adam Jones and #9 for SAC after #9 hawked Jones on his 78-yard run. The game was all but over and they shared a big laugh about it and shook hands or something after the play.

Ty McCullouch almost had a Randy Moss Thanksgiving Day game albeit over two games. His last touch of the EWU game was a 61-yard TD, his first touch of the SAC game was a 64-yard TD run and his third touch vs SAC was almost a 46-yard touchdown. Moss had three catches for 163 yards and three touchdowns. McCullouch had three touchs for 157 yards and two touchdowns. If he doesn’t step out of bounds it’s 3-171-3. Slightly better than Moss. Pretty incredible.

I seemed to have missed this, but what is the deal with Marqui Johnson? Injured? Buried on the depth chart? Is he returning kicks?

His fourth carry was a TD and that would’ve been a long run. Only five yards to EZ though. I heard the tv announcer starting to say something to the effect of he doesn’t look like he did last year. I think people are always looking for that so it might skew their thinking. Hard to say.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2024 10:29 amInteresting. He had 6 carries for 42 yards and a TD with the 1s. I’m not saying he was bad, he just wasn’t the same player I saw last year. If he’s RB3 we’re in a very good spot. That’s for sure.

I was just adding the comment about a long run in reference to his numbers. Six for 42 is good but he didn’t have any gaping holes. He really tested his left knee on his second(?) run as he cut on it twice in quick fashion and then planted his right foot and blew through an opening.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2024 11:37 amYou don’t need a long run to exhibit burst and explosion.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2024 10:29 amInteresting. Davis looked good in the opportunities he was given. Definitely still possess the power and savvy that he has in the past. The guy only had a handful of touches though (specifically with the 1’s where he averaged 7 yards a carry) and to classify him as “not the same” is really a slap in the face. Heck, he ended up with 76 and 2 TD. If he started the game, he easily runs for 100+.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2024 12:03 pmI was just adding the comment about a long run in reference to his numbers. Gotta figure out a way to consistently get Ty the rock. The stubbornness will catch up w/ us again when a team contains the run. 8 completed passes for leas than 100 yards not gonn get it done down the stretch…TomCat88 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2024 10:42 amTy McCullouch almost had a Randy Moss Thanksgiving Day game albeit over two games. Your arguments are consistently bad, and completely ignore situations. Why would we pass when we run for 500+ yards. Have you watched any games this year? There is nothing stubborn about this offense. In games where we need to pass more to open up the run we do. The run has been opening up the passing game very well all year.ThoughtUKnew14 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2024 12:33 pmGotta figure out a way to consistently get Ty the rock. There have been two games where MSU has “needed” to pass. New Mexico and Eastern.
Tommy was a combined 34/52 for 386, 4/1.
Ty was a combined 9/134/2.
I realize they’re never going to pass enough to satisfy your wants, but they’ve more than proven they can pass enough to win this year.

I don't post much, but I am an MSU alum and have read BN for years. I've learned a bunch from all you knowledgeable folks. Thanks.PapaG wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 10:37 pmWas sitting first row behind the Bobcat bench at the 40 where the DBs sit. Davis doesn’t seem the same as last year. Hopefully he gets better as the season goes on.
Jody was yelling “What the f*ck else do I need to do??!!” and then Gray started dropping n-bombs at full volume.
Just a couple of points. First, you'll have to cut me some slack on this, but I'm not sure if I understand what actually was happening on the DB bench--based on PapaG's post. I sure hope there is not dissension within the team's ranks. IF so, that can be problematic, and it should be worked out quickly to help the team continue its 1-0 attitude all the way to the end of the season.
Second--and it's a very minor issue that some would call pedantic. Again, you'll have to grant me some grace.

Thanks for your time. Now, I'll prepare for the assaults.
