Broken record here but MSU is an OL manufacturing MACHINE! Think about the OL players we've had here the past few years. So just this season you take those two players out of the mix above, and also take out Perkins and Reid (temporarily), shuffle things around on the OL with the players we have that are healthy, then go up against an FBS team and put up 380 yards rushing. We are very fortunate.
Marcus Wehr won't win the Big Sky Offensive MVP award, but he probably should. I was rewatching the game the other evening paying attention to what he was doing on every play and it was absolute dominance. I have to wonder if he stays at RG even after JT Reed is healthy enough to return.
Definitely have to wonder if good showings by Fleischman and Jefferson keep them in the lineup, or at the very least getting time. Once Perkins is back, I'd assume Sain slides back over to G, but who gets bumped out? I guess we'll see how those 2 play until others are healthy.

Wait, wait, wait….. there were some posters (won’t name names) who were very adamant that Valdez is over rated and would never start for Washington…. This depth chart can’t be accurate!

Ha. On a serious note though, all this does is piss me off. These guys should still be with the cats. The portal F’ing blows.
If it wasn’t for Covid, he would have graduated by now too. In a lot of ways, all of this is an exception, not the rule.

Somewhat related to why some players jump ship and some don't, there was an interesting article I read, can't remember where. I highlighted the SDSU QB and an NDSU lineman that turned down huge NIL deals to stay put. I think the lineman was 1.2 million, QB slightly less than that. That is astounding. Really, really hope they don't get injured in final season and damage their NFL earning potential.

That was a great article. I love the Cats. But, if someone is going to pay me 1.2 million to transfer to no-name Wyoming and go 6-6. Im doing it. Thats an insane amount of cash. To relate it back to the Okada thread, that is more than he has made in his time in the NFL (I think).

Two Bobcat O-linemen turned down good six figure deals last Spring to stay at MSU. Not millions, but not just 100K either. Troy Andersen was actively recruited throughout his time at MSU to bail to an FBS school, but he stayed. Grebe was also recruited to leave but stayed. Not sure what Grebe was offered but I'm sure it was significant.

Here's the article you're referring to. I'm sure a few MSU players have similar stories, particularly one who's in the NFL (Troy) and another who's going to be there next year (Wehr). This is why it's so crucial to keep recruiting hard for the best in-state players, because those are the guys who are more likely to have stronger ties that can keep them here instead of taking the big payday for a year or two elsewhere.

It’s Friday, the Cats are playing in Utah tomorrow and there isn’t a thread tracking their charter flight? What happened BN?

In case anyone was wondering, Maine beat Colgate tonight. And a familiar name led them in rushing.

Jaharie Martin 15 carries, 66 yards, 1 TD. Scored to make it 17-7, won 17-14.

How in the world are we going to get Davis, Humphrey, Jones, and maybe Elliot/White all touches. Maybe UNM wasn’t the best test but dang we are running it well and are still missing some injured OL. I think if we get the defense tackling better and tighten up the coverage we could have one hell of a season. What wr group is looking good and Tommy is only going to get better.

Well, two of those guys are currently injured, so I’m guessing the others will get their fair share of opportunities.

This is pretty random, so I'll put it here. After the excellent way that catsrback76 started the Official Unofficial Game Day thread, who will be brave enough to step forward and start today's thread?

Damn, I was literally going to post something similar. His opening post for a thread is how I enjoyed many breakfasts on a game day. RIP Official Unofficial Game Day threads, may the torch be carried by someone who can carry the positivity that catsrback76 had with their post.

Mercyhurst is going on the road today to play Division II Wheeling University. If you have the desire to watch this game over NDSU/Colorado I would strongly suggest reconsidering your priorities and being happy to let the coaching staff handle the scouting of future opponents!
I have the capability to watch more than one game at once. I watch future opponents to see what kind of talent they have, not to provide scouting for the team.
Mercyhurst does get the road win! Uffda
With Mercyhurst winning and moving up two spots to #127 and Presbyterian dropping their opener and taking over the bottom spot, #129, it looks like Presbyterian can stay comfy in their bottom spot for the season.

Break up Mercyhurst! Actually, I love this post on Twitter [-X . They later changed it to the more accurate "first win as a Div 1 University." I really don't like these type of match ups, but I understand why it happened and why MSU plays teams like San Diego, Drake, and Stetson. You really don't want to schedule Div 2 schools or NAIA schools or fake university football teams (Lincoln), like other Big Sky teams are forced to do.
