Looks like they found a way to still honor the Thayer family.

I like it. Understated but still acknowledged.

I wonder what the original agreement was with the Thayer family. If it was in perpetuity, or just as long as that scoreboard existed. Could be a tough spot for Leon because it wasn't his agreement. I've met Gene Thayer and he's just an amazing man who has been very generous in the Great Falls area and obviously with MSU. I'm really glad that regardless of the agreement, MSU has honored his family with this recognition.

Maybe the Thayer Family donated again for the new videoboard.

I wondered that too, and I wouldn't be surprised if they did. I'm not pretending to know what happened, I'm just glad they got their name up there. I think it happens all the time where donors' names get taken off things because somebody did more, and I don't think that's right. Good on MSU for honoring it, or good on the Thayers for their generosity.

I'm also glad there's a "Martel Field" sign now actually visible from said field

Here's a look at the template they'll be using for the scoreboard. Also, there are 2 plaques/signs hanging from the Scoreboard saying "Thayer Family" and "Martel Field".

Looks great, thanks for posting that! Good thing that MSU still has a 24-13 lead despite four turnovers in the first quarter.

Can't believe the 500+ yard in 7 minutes. That game will be fun to watch!

Took the kids to movie night last night to check out the new videoboard. This thing is impressive!! It really closes in the endzone. As amazed I was with the board, I might have been more amazed with the sound! The bass felt like it legit shock the ground.

So glad to see we got a bigger board so we could increase the size of ad space and keep the same size screen.

You must not have seen this in person yet if you think it's anything approaching the same size as the old screen, advertising space or no. Gotta pay for this stuff somehow and donors can only give so much....

Damn that took WAY longer than I expected. I had the over/under on that comment at 2.5 hours.

Yeah, it’s almost hilarious at this point. I mean, how many images of the board doing different things do we have to post? This board won’t show a static template for the whole game, the image will morph and change.

Does anyone know what that flag on the right side of the scoreboard is all about? It looks like a number 21 or 27. I can't figure out what that number has to do with the Cats or why it's important enough to be placed on the scoreboard. I believe the Cats have 22 conference titles.
