Mr. Walberg says "F**k the Cats but thanks for the $3000".
And that's why I'm not in favor of giving money to our rival. Go ahead and tell me I'm a bad fan now. I couldn't care less.

The fact that some people on BN respect this guy always surprises me. But then again, there are a lot of people that fall for trolling from griz fans here so maybe I should temper my expectations.
Why? I have close friends that say FTG all day every day. It's a rivalry. We don't like the Griz. The griz don't like the Cats. Our fans chant eat ****** griz at every home game. So why is a griz fan saying FTC any different? :-k
It's not, and I say FTG sometimes myself.
Mostly I'm speaking to the MSU fans in this thread who told me I'm a bad, embarrassing fan for not loving the donation to um. So I gave an example why I don't like it.

I'm 100% with you. I'm all for every bit of it. But it does seem like they preach at us for doing it. I have no problem with someone talking smack or hating all things MSU. What I don't like is when their fan base says WE take it too far, or that WE think about them all the time. I've been in bars in the Flathead watching the Cats play and I've watched the place erupt when the Bobcats lose. "My two favorite teams are (my team) and whoever is playing (my rival)" is the oldest line out there. Don't pretend like that doesn't apply to most fans and I won't apologize for pulling against them at all times.

I have two brothers and a sister who are MSU alums. I am definitely the black sheep. I respect the rivalry, but I am am very appreciative of the donation by MSU. I made my donation as well. By the way, I disagree with the mutual agreement to not send bands. I think having both bands there makes a better environment.

Thank you MSU.

Holy s@#& that might be the dumbest gris
twitter post I've ever seen. And I've seen a lot of their 'big brain" posts. Knocking MSU for helping the um band??????? Brint (is that short for something. Nobody has that first name. I knew a guy in missoula with the first name brintley?) Same guy?? Anyways that Twitter post from (brintley?) Says a lot. Symbolic. Gris fans like brintley have low IQ and more importantly low standards when comes to integrity or morality. Hey how about a thanks to MT ST for helping the gris band?? A straight thanks. Not one buried in ten layers of bull @&>/

That little $3,000 gift is excellent PR for Montana State. It’s definitely hit social media and it paints MSU as fiscally healthy and well lead while implying the opposite of um. Even after a couple extra million dollar plus gates at the Mecca they are broke. They need Hauck to break into his vault and contribute a couple thousand to the band endowment. It would be some cheap goodwill for the university but not going to happen.

If I was running UM I wouldn't have accepted it.

UM would do the same thing if it was reversed!….

Actually, no they did the opposite…. Lending their sideline heaters to our opponents during a playoff run.

UM is garbage.

Denny, phyllis, and the boys can't be bothered with this fundraiser. If they can't put their name on it then they aren't interested....
I have no idea if the washington's have opened their wallets for this by the way😂👍

This was a brilliant move by Cruzado. This story has gone borderline viral (at least in Montana) and it makes MSU look great, and makes the gris athletic dept look like a charity case.

They wouldn’t need to open their wallets, the pocket change from folks like them would be more than enough send the band first class

I don't think this is quite true..... (And I am loathe to defend dUMb).

My understanding is that anything the home team has/uses must also be made available for the traveling team as well (during playoffs) and it was the NCAA who rented the warmers.

Now gris could very well have said "hey NCAA, we would be happy to help" but I keep seeing posts about this and it was not a case of the gris just donating their warmers as gamesmanship play.

Why didn't we have warming huts at South Dakota last year at playoff game if NCAA rents them so I say not true

Kcatz, you are correct. MSU had a choice between using warmers or not using warmers. The NCAA does not provide warmers. MSU wanted to use warmers. UM’s willingness to provide theirs for the visiting team to use made it happen. Cooperation and contributions that take place between two great universities, MSU and UM, are not veiled jabs or shrewd strategies. Sometimes people and institutions can just be nice to each other. We’re fortunate it happens a lot in Montana.

If the Cats wanted heated benches, I know they could easily purchase them. The QB club could make that happen pretty quickly.

I've never seen heated benches on the MSU sideline. Feel free to prove me wrong, though, and I'll stand corrected.

The guys who bear the burden of proof are those who claim UM sent sideline warmers to Bozeman to help MSU’s opponent. That’s just crap spread by butt hurt people. There are NCAA rules in place for the host institution, like Kcatz said.

No, the burden of proof is on you, when you're the one who said MSU used warmers.

I’m pretty positive your understanding is wrong… that’s why they call it home field advantage
