Any ideas on who will step in a LBs?

Also, as a tangent, this made me think of other former LBs who may come back to coach someday and I look forward to seeing coach Andersen down the line! I feel like he would actually want to come back to MT after he retires from the NFL.

First and goal, clock winding down. That's Humphrey! It's TOUCHDOWN MONTANA STATE!

Daly will probably continue to coach LB’s. Not sure if Shepherd will continue to coach just CB’s or if he’ll do all the DB’s to replace Garza’s role.

Let Daly coach LB's and Shepherd coach the secondary. Hire a special teams coach.

Again, how many teams have a dedicated ST’s coach at the FCS level?

An FCS ST coach isn’t working on technique for a kicker, they all have kicking coaches for that. Did we see a big problem is kick coverage? In the blocking schemes? I can’t recall that. That’s what a ST coach does. Even Hauck doesn’t mess with the kickers techniques, fwiw. And that’s straight from the mouth of one of their former kickers.

This is a step in the proper direction. WMG did not achieve the results we needed but Bobby will.

While registering my vehicles the assessor stated "I have had both Cat and Griz students and alums work for me and the Griz end up working under the direction of the Cats."

FWIW SDSU and NDSU both have dedicated special teams coordinators who also coach a position group. This is what I would like to see Vigen do with WMG's vacant position. Bring in a DBs coach who also has experience with special teams in some form or another.

I think Udy has done a good job and don't blame him for the missed kicks but watching the quarterfinal games and seeing teams like SDSU and UM make game changing plays with their special teams I feel like the Cats are a step behind in this phase of the game

Plus I heard someone saying that the kicking game might be an issue with the timing with the snap and hold. I don't think the blocking was particularly bad on FG/EP. I do think our kick coverage/return teams could use some work as when people did return against us, they seemed to do well. We also seemed to end up with a lot of penalties when we returned. It wasn't an overall bonus unit in 2023 and the best teams make it a game-changing phase.

Justin Udy is the ST coordinator who also coached a position group. It’s no different.

He’s the same coordinator we had when Marquis and Taco were busting long returns, when Glessner was making all his kicks. The only problem with ST’s this year was on place kicking, and that was a talent problem, not coaching.

You should.

I think you’re not aware of what a ST coach does. It doesn’t make sense to have a coach who does only that.

He’ll be too busy feeding cows, calving, and drinking coffee at cafe around 5am to be coaching msu football.

So with this promotion is it safe to say Vigen is staying put?

Big bucks says that Choate tried to get Daly as his LB coach.
You’d win big bucks.
For somebody who won’t even mention his old job, he sure likes to take a lot of stuff from it.
That’s too bad because a lot of people that put a lot of time and money into MSU football like him around Bozeman. They won’t if he’s bad mouthing it though. Hope it isn’t true. Going to be a big letdown for them.
So we wouldn’t be happy for Daly for getting that opportunity and Choate for thinking that highly of him?

I find it interesting that another outstanding Bobcat LB, Clay Bignell, was also recently named DC at Southern Mississippi.
