They already close Kagy down near the stadium on game days. However, there are a lot of people that park out there during the work/school week, so there might be a need to build something like that someday in the future.cat-o-nine wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 9:20 amI would think a good option would be to build a walking bridge over the top of Kagy leading to the stadium. One of my sons attended Arizona State and they have one over one of the major streets thru campus. It looks good and keeps everyone safe.PHAT CAT wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2023 6:48 pmIt's not MSU's call. Great idea.allcat wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 9:25 amGreat project. Get all the graduating engineers to submit a design that they win ten years of season tickets if the design wins. I know that's really cheap, but if they are just graduating they are broke.cat-o-nine wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 9:20 amI would think a good option would be to build a walking bridge over the top of Kagy leading to the stadium. What is the lead time on steel right now? I was told bar joists are 20 weeks out. Is that just a joist issue or a steel issue?

The idea of a pedestrian bridge is very good, with all the student apartments and parking lots south of Kagy. But it would work better without 18” of snow on it.cat-o-nine wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 2:43 pmhttps://www.classcentral.com/report/wp- ... 05/ASU.jpg

Idaho ran the steam tunnels under the sidewalks so that they didn't have issues with snow or to access them.damnyoutuesday wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2023 5:09 pmIf the University of Minnesota can figure it out, we can figure it outBobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2023 4:02 pmThe idea of a pedestrian bridge is very good, with all the student apartments and parking lots south of Kagy. The city will put in a box culvert under Kagy for people to cross at the BAC entrance. No overhead crossing bridge.

Is that a plan that is already being considered by the city or are you just anticipating that is what they would do? Either way, you are probably right.

Thanks for the article link. Interesting stuff in there. At least it sounds like they are trying to be pro-active with regards to population growth south of town and how to handle the traffic that comes with it.MSU01 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 15, 2023 12:18 pmIt's currently part of the plan.cat-o-nine wrote: ↑Thu Jun 15, 2023 6:58 amIs that a plan that is already being considered by the city or are you just anticipating that is what they would do? Re: New Video Board out to bid
Minnesota St. did the same. The tunnels either melt the snow, or they use the tunnels to go between buildings. So when MSU was planning the steam tunnels I asked one of the Vice Presidents if MSU was doing the same — bare sidewalks and subterranean walkways. He said basically, “No way! We don’t want our steam tunnels leaking any heat, nor would we ever consider using them for pedestrian traffic!” Hmmm. I guess you can get away with it in Bozeman’s mild weather, but in Mankato there was an all different attitude. My sister-in-law had a locker for her coat, and she could go to all her classes in different buildings without ever walking outside.Montanabob wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2023 5:17 pmIdaho ran the steam tunnels under the sidewalks so that they didn't have issues with snow or to access them.damnyoutuesday wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2023 5:09 pmIf the University of Minnesota can figure it out, we can figure it outBobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2023 4:02 pmThe idea of a pedestrian bridge is very good, with all the student apartments and parking lots south of Kagy. I have actually been in a couple of those tunnels, even the newer and larger ones would not make for good passageways for students. Best leave those for phantom of the opera and trolls.Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 1:11 pmMinnesota St. did the same.
