Just rewatching the game and I'd be very interested to know why MSU didn't take a timeout right before the end of the first half. They were almost at the 50, why not try a hail Mary in that situation? Boggled my mind at the time. May as well try it, really not much to lose attempting one... Anyone have any thoughts?

Don’t want to risk injury. Qb can’t throw it that far. Defense might return it for TD due to players out of position.

I call BS on the claim Tommy can't throw it that far. He managed to hit Dowler without setting his feet on the last throw, was about 45 yards in the air. And plenty of coaches still try the HM despite at the end of first halves despite everything you listed. Thought it was a missed opportunity.

Not surprised as we’ve seen this before — definitely Vigen’s M.O. He’s very risk averse in situations that don’t have a good ROI. Mistakes lose games and he minimizes those chances. One reason this team is becoming a difficult out.

Just from looking at the stats, I know stats mean zip, that PSU just seemed like they just failed to cross the goal line. No, I did not watch the game.

It wasn't close. Sac rolled them in the first half and then, like many games that are already won, just counter punched the rest of the game.

A good percentage of the gris were walking off the field with time on the clock near the end of the game to avoid any hand shakes with the Cats.
