Jay Cohn does PBP for the gris? I didn’t know that but I don’t watch or listen to their games. I once sat in the booth with Jay during a high school game back in the early 1980s. For some reason, the game wasn’t being broadcast live, so he just did telephone updates instead. It was still fun to watch him operate. Great guy.

Just rewatching the game and I'd be very interested to know why MSU didn't take a timeout right before the end of the first half. They were almost at the 50, why not try a hail Mary in that situation? Boggled my mind at the time. May as well try it, really not much to lose attempting one... Anyone have any thoughts?

Don’t want to risk injury. Qb can’t throw it that far. Defense might return it for TD due to players out of position.

I call BS on the claim Tommy can't throw it that far. He managed to hit Dowler without setting his feet on the last throw, was about 45 yards in the air. And plenty of coaches still try the HM despite at the end of first halves despite everything you listed. Thought it was a missed opportunity.

One of the sideline tossses to Willie P that he caught but was ruled out - I think his toe tapped down in bounds. Will have to rewatch the game and get the exact time it happened. It was in the second half.

I thought so too. Need to go back and rewatch.

As did I. And was wondering why it was not reviewed. I am baffled by the college review process.

Was a catch and was a stupid overturn. I don’t understand why any review takes more than 30 seconds. If it’s not obviously a bad call, stay with the one on the field instead of the Zapruder Film treatment of 5 minutes of downtime.
