We’re sitting right where we thought we would be in our pre-season prognostications at 2 wins and 0 loses. Now, we roll into Portland to take on Oregon State from the PAC 12 coming off of an emotional and fun win for them. We did exactly what we needed to do last week, by getting up early and often on Morehead State and rolling to an easy victory…BUT, this week promises to be a different kind of test. We played well, but really didn’t get tested enough to find out who we really are. This week we will find out!
We’re on the road, something we’ve done well with in the past with Vigen led teams! So, my concern is really not with the travel and being ready to play hard. That is a given.
What I will be waiting to hear about (as I won’t be able to watch or listen to the game) is how we play against a team that is the favorite to win, and should be able to wear us down and take advantage of our lack of depth at some positions?
My thought is this week we really do get a better read on what kind of team we really have this year because we’re going to be tested and likely exposed a bit. How do we adjust? This is the key to the game in my opinion.
How do we adjust to the decimation of the RB corps?
How do we adjust to our relative lack of experience at QB against a fast and athletic team like OSU? How will our QB be used?
How do we adjust on Defense to a team that has their own version of Troy Andersen , Jack Colletto who is versatile and who scored the winning TD last week? How do we limit his impact?
How does our scheme on Defense hold up against a high quality opponent?
These questions will be answered in just a few short hours…but until then, let’s believe, let’s rally, let’s shout it out… GO BOBCATS…beat the Beavers!
