The official-Unofficial Bobcat-Oregon State gameday thread!

Post by catsrback76 » Fri Sep 16, 2022 9:49 pm

Greetings Cat fans and welcome to week 3!

We’re sitting right where we thought we would be in our pre-season prognostications at 2 wins and 0 loses. Now, we roll into Portland to take on Oregon State from the PAC 12 coming off of an emotional and fun win for them. We did exactly what we needed to do last week, by getting up early and often on Morehead State and rolling to an easy victory…BUT, this week promises to be a different kind of test. We played well, but really didn’t get tested enough to find out who we really are. This week we will find out!

We’re on the road, something we’ve done well with in the past with Vigen led teams! So, my concern is really not with the travel and being ready to play hard. That is a given.

What I will be waiting to hear about (as I won’t be able to watch or listen to the game) is how we play against a team that is the favorite to win, and should be able to wear us down and take advantage of our lack of depth at some positions?

My thought is this week we really do get a better read on what kind of team we really have this year because we’re going to be tested and likely exposed a bit. How do we adjust? This is the key to the game in my opinion.

How do we adjust to the decimation of the RB corps?
How do we adjust to our relative lack of experience at QB against a fast and athletic team like OSU? How will our QB be used?
How do we adjust on Defense to a team that has their own version of Troy Andersen , Jack Colletto who is versatile and who scored the winning TD last week? How do we limit his impact?
How does our scheme on Defense hold up against a high quality opponent?

These questions will be answered in just a few short hours…but until then, let’s believe, let’s rally, let’s shout it out… GO BOBCATS…beat the Beavers! =D^ =D^ =D^

I think we see more rb core today. The oline is what makes or breaks us today. I won't be able to catch the game. I'm closer to 76 than Portland.

Do the Cats cover -14.5 points? The following may lead to the Cats covering and possibly winning:
1. It’s not really a home game for either team = + Cats
2. OSU playing down a division (emotional let down) = + Cats
3. Cats playing up a division (emotional lift up) = + Cats
4. OSU coming off emotional big road game win = + Cats
I still don’t think the Cats cover however it’s going to be close.

5. OSU looking ahead to a big game with USC

This is where I say “what the hell” why not us? Why do app state and Marshall get to win but we don’t? Let’s throw our s**t in there today and see what happens. Can’t win if ya don’t play :)

OSU beat U of Washington by 3 last year and lost to Utah State so they are not a power 5 team yet. If we are as good as we think we should be able to play with them. It will be difficult to beat them but I would expect we keep it within 10-14 points.

I will be surprised if the Rb's get more than 5 carries total.

I'm in Arbois, France. Probably not near you, but closer than Portland.

Anybody know if there is a place that carries the PAC 12 Netwerk or otherwise airing the game in Sidney Montana today?

Not sure, but I was able to create a fubo subscription.

If not, a local Buffalo Wild Wings will do.

This. 100%. Oregon State has been really bad for a P5 school for the last decade. They look better so far this year, but the Cats are supposed to be an elite FCS team. If we think the Cats deserve to hang with the Bizen (and I think they do) then the Cats should easily cover the spread. I'm looking for the Cats to be in a position to get a go ahead score in the last 5 minutes.

I am watching the Colorado State Washington State game right now on PAC 12 network. I don't think there is any way it'll be done before the Bobcat -Beaver game is scheduled to play.

Kickoff isn't until 510 technically. If you have Fubo it will be on Pac12 Now to start if this one isn't over.
