As much fun as it is to troll the group, especially a couple of guys who get way to serious, don’t let it be at the expense of a player. CB spins the ball like nobody I’ve seen at MSU for a while. It’s going to take some time to get him, the team and the game plan ready for a drastic departure from the last 3 years offensive strategy. I have no doubt that when his time comes, Choate will have the tools and plan in place to make it work.
Till then I can’t wait for the heartburn that will be caused by TA and TJ on the field and Kassis dropping bombs to them out of the backfield. How would you like to be the linebacker drawing that coverage detail?
I wonder what Choate will do if we go say 8-3 this year but TA is only an average passer. I think he will be better than that but do you think Choate looks to move to Rovig or Bauman in that case. I think he likes the running QB more than he likes to admit and will ride that hoss as long as he can.
We can't be 8-3 overall, fyi. we'd have at least one playoff game with that record.
We can be 8-3 overall because we have an 11 game schedule. WIU, SDSU, Wagner, PSU, EWU, Idaho, Weber, ISU, Cal Poly, UNC, and the Jizzlies.
He means we would play 12 cause with 8 wins we would most likely have to make the playoffs. My point was just saying if we had a really solid team year but the QB play was lackluster(at least throwing the ball) would Choate really shake things up next year or stay with the status quo?
Ignore me...had a dense moment and misread that. My apologies.

Didn’t know where else to put this. But a guy that was partial scholarship to starter and team captain. Choate has recruited some serious talent and it shows up across the entire depth chart.

Wasn't Kassis an Ash recruit at first, then Choate held onto him? I'm not sure, just asking.

He committed to Choate in late January.

What does it mean to clean up your routes? This seams so simple to me, but it is always mentioned when someone does it. Or they say he is a good route runner.

Running routes is far from simple.

Probably just talking about efficiency in steps, selling fakes, not rounding your angles, stuff like that. Even speed coming off the line and into your cut. It’s very, very precise work.

The ability to run routes exceptionally well are why little guys like Wes Welker and Julian Edelman have done so well. It’s why a non-athletic (compared to his peers) guy like Jerry Rice had the career he did.

Right on! Dabo Swinney, once said that wide receiver was the worst coached position in all of football. This is because of how technical the position can be, yet how little coached some receivers are. It is imperative that WRs recognize coverage as well, knowing when/where to stem routes and running a route consistent so the QB knows when to throw the ball.

Cooper Kupp is one of the best route runners I have EVER seen.

Do they do a new depth chart every week? If so is this weeks depth chart out yet?

It came out today. I don’t expect it to hold come Saturday.
