Downplay it if you want, but Davis was way, way out of line getting physical with the head coach in a very public way, and there needs to be consequences for that.PapaG wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 9:04 amVery niche and small subsets of people in platforms that constantly bombard their consumer with “Breaking News.”
The only people who will care after next weekend about this are Gris trolls using it to agitate Bobcat fans as some weird sort of fanbase leverage. Even with that, the ref yesterday called MSU “Montana” at least once during the game so outside of this state, nobody knows the difference other than FCS super fans.

Ok that’s fine. Maybe they’ll do that and maybe they won’t. Doesn’t mean there hasn’t been a ton of overreacting on this thread which is what I said.
Personally I have no issue with any of it if it was handled within the confines of the locker room like I suspect it was. This stuff happens all over the place and it’s just not televised. I’m not condoning it, I don’t like the look of how it blew up; but I won’t act like it’s the end of the world either.
And I have met Julius several times and he’s been nothing but great. I refuse to bash a kid or question his character on one lapse of judgement when I know it doesn’t represent who he is as a person. He made a mistake. He owned it. We move on.
FYI I just think it was a combustible situation after the game all around. The offense looked like crap all day. Guys were pissed. I’m sure Vigen was livid after that performance. I think this entire thing was very blown out of proportion because every player and coach was pissed at what they just put on the field. And I think this could be one of those defining moments that start an epic run to the Natty

I will downplay it because I saw Taden Gray and Jody Owens have a similar encounter on the sideline of the Sac State game last season to the point I though he’d be at least suspended and then nothing happened at all. Guess because it wasn’t caught on camera?91catAlum wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 9:39 amDownplay it if you want, but Davis was way, way out of line getting physical with the head coach in a very public way, and there needs to be consequences for that.PapaG wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 9:04 amVery niche and small subsets of people in platforms that constantly bombard their consumer with “Breaking News.”

Re: Julius Davis
I'm not bashing the kid. I'm bashing the behavior. And no, it isn't typical and doesn't happen all over. If it did, we'd see other examples of college players getting physical with their coaches. It's very rare, and that's why it blew up on social media.ilovethecats wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 9:57 amOk that’s fine. Maybe they’ll do that and maybe they won’t. I'm surprised that it's even an argument. It was unacceptable behavior that should have real consequences, period.

He was trying to fight people the whole game. I really wish the refs would have done something about that. The fact that the head coach wouldn't be interviewed is so tacky. I mean come on. They outplayed and outcoached the Cats today it seemed, and yet we still won. There was some SERIOUS emotion during the game and alot for the coaches to address this week in practice from that, to some sloppiness, etc. I think we'll see a very different team next week.![]()

Not up in arms at all but seeing the head coach say F*** you to his own QB on national tv, was certainly interesting.1890Griz wrote: ↑Sat Dec 06, 2025 8:19 pmI hope that you weren’t one of the cat fans that were up in arms about Fife and Hauck last year.CodyCat wrote: ↑Sat Dec 06, 2025 7:29 pmI finally watched the video. I don’t even think it’s a big deal. Everyone was making this out to be something horrible. So, I thought something horrible happened. They yelled at each other and Julius didn’t want to be touched. I’d be shocked if he misses one snap. This is absolutely no big deal.

Re: Julius Davis
I am on the complete other side of this issue. I grew up in Bozeman, practiced from 85-88 (note: not "played much" hahaha), and I and my wallet bleed Blue-n-Gold.
This is Coach Vigen's fault. And he should come out with a statement clarifying that and anything else that he wants to clarify as the Leader.
Give me Vigen and Davis every day of the week, and twice on Saturday. I want that fire, passion, and energy all the time. If it costs me a few yards now and then, well I'm good with that. The player will spend time after Tuesday practice pumping bear crawls, however, but at least we have an understanding amongst men.
The film shows Davis joking with #3 and #4, and high-fiving. #3 (I believe) was the backup QB at Wisconsin when they both played there. Julius was heading to congratulate #8 when Vigen made contact with him.Vigen came over and pulled him away to go to the song/prayer circle. Vigen was animated and adamant about Julius going to the prayer circle, when Julius said screw it and headed the other way. He had every right to congratulate the other team and meet up with the old teammates. The video clearly shows it was cordial and brotherly. The moment Vigen puts his hands on Davis, Davis has a right to disagree with that treatment. In addition, he just walked off the fieid after 3 hours of intense physical and emotional battle.
My only caveat: once done with football, JD has no area to place this passion and energy. May need some help in his transition because if not, this fire could get him in some real-world hot water.
I ran scout team under Kramer (DB coach), Dunn (DL coach), etc. Let's call it a great learning situation that I will never forget and am thankful for as I raise my kids. We experienced this passion every practice.
Moving forward today! SFA Look-Alike thread coming tonight.

Probably a fairly accurate take. Combine that with Tom and Colter‘s observations. I am thinking that Vigen thought there was trouble brewing and inserted himself and maybe didn’t need to.PortlandCat90 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 12:44 pmI am on the complete other side of this issue. Nonetheless, Julius overreacted as well
The originating ESPN clip wanted to inflame the situation so that it got clicks which it did. Without starting where it should have for context.
Chalk it up to an emotional game all the way around the playing and coaching staff address it and move on

Assumptions, miscommunication, heat of the moment... all of it contributed to what happened.
Not a good look all around but it feels like Vigen kind of exacerbated it.
Regardless, good on Davis for posting something and it sounds like they are good and have moved on.
We should too.
Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.
