This game is the perfect example of why your statement is false (as is last week), regardless of how anyone feels specifically about these helmets or the flag. I would prefer the Bobcats stick to their regular uniforms and don't continue down the path of further honoring/marketing/virtue signaling. Find another way to do that stuff.MSU01 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 14, 2025 9:01 amVery true, and none of them will ever show up on Bobcat football uniforms as one poster here appears to be highly afraid of.iaafan wrote: ↑Fri Nov 14, 2025 8:58 amBozeman has numerous city flags.Bsmithmsu wrote: ↑Fri Nov 14, 2025 8:51 amNot sure if many of you know or not but the Bozeman city council did vote to have a certain flag, same one as Missoula, as their official city flag. Is using American flag colors on the helmet virtue signaling too?coloradocat wrote: ↑Fri Nov 14, 2025 9:28 amThis game is the perfect example of why your statement is false (as is last week), regardless of how anyone feels specifically about these helmets or the flag. I'm just saying that the fact that they've had alternates two weeks in a row for specific groups unrelated to the football team by definition means that there's a chance they'll do something for another group in the future. Whether people like them or not is really beside the point. If it's happened before there's no reason to assume it can't happen again, regardless of the special group being discussed.MSU01 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 14, 2025 9:44 amThere's nothing false about my statement. That's fair, since I assume we're all talking about the Pride flag let's just go ahead and say it. My opinion is that MSU would never put that element on its uniforms precisely because of the controversy it would generate. Hard to find much that's controversial about uniforms supporting military service members and the Native American community at MSU. I just disagree with the argument that MSU shouldn't ever do something like this because people are worried about who else might be included in the future.coloradocat wrote: ↑Fri Nov 14, 2025 9:51 amI'm just saying that the fact that they've had alternates two weeks in a row for specific groups unrelated to the football team by definition means that there's a chance they'll do something for another group in the future. Love the helmet. I’d go a step further. I believe a Native American riding bareback could lead the rodeo team’s run out.
Would have stage appropriately so it presents honorably and doesn’t look like the rodeo team is chasing.
If you haven’t read, the Bloody Bozeman is a good read.

I received a message this morning from that seller on eBay that makes great mini helmet versions of the ones the Cats wear. Ugh, now I have to get another one.

Montana State Football's partnership with the MSU American Indian Council honors indigenous heritage and strengthens community ties. By wearing the MSU AIC logo on their helmets, the Bobcats proudly celebrate Native nations and highlight the university's commitment to inclusion, respect, and cultural representation.

Got the same message. Need him to do an updated version of the helmet that was worn the past two weeks with the shinier Cats script logo.
EDIT: never mind, he just put it up. Buying that one too I guess.

Veterans and Native Americans have both played for the Cats. Not sure how those groups are unrelated to the football program.coloradocat wrote: ↑Fri Nov 14, 2025 9:51 amI'm just saying that the fact that they've had alternates two weeks in a row for specific groups unrelated to the football team by definition means that there's a chance they'll do something for another group in the future. Bingo! And I want to clarify that I was not agreeing with Bsmith, but thought his initial post was very strange. This helmet design by MSU is an extremely nice gesture honoring the history and heritage of Montana. There has been no attempt by anyone to commercialize advertising or political statements by the university. People need to quit creating controversy where it doesn’t exist. Once again, the initial comment is truly strange and not applicable.MSU01 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 14, 2025 9:01 amVery true, and none of them will ever show up on Bobcat football uniforms as one poster here appears to be highly afraid of.iaafan wrote: ↑Fri Nov 14, 2025 8:58 amBozeman has numerous city flags.Bsmithmsu wrote: ↑Fri Nov 14, 2025 8:51 amNot sure if many of you know or not but the Bozeman city council did vote to have a certain flag, same one as Missoula, as their official city flag.
