New helmets for UC Davis game (Native American Heritage)
These are amazing!!!

Article states they'll be worn with the all-blue look (which has recently become our de facto night game uniforms)

I am not a fan personally and am scared to think if you don’t just stick to the regular uniforms and logos what could be. I’m sure a large donation could get some very controversial logos out on the field.

It would be quite a leap to go from a helmet that honors Indigenous Montanans to something where people are paying to put controversial stuff on the helmets. This isn't NASCAR.

I like the design work on these and think they are a great idea.

I’m pleased the university is honoring our Native Americans in this way. These helmets are well thought out and the design is pretty awesome.

Native Americans are a part and parcel of MSU and have been for many years. I know at one time MSU had more NA students than any other university. In my experience they’ve simply been students, like kids from Jordan or kids from Lima. I played softball with, roomed on a summer survey crew with, played intramural basketball against (Colter mentioned this not long ago), and shared classes with Native American kids, mostly from the Crow or Northern Cheyenne reservations or surrounding towns. The Native American Center sits beautifully near the campus center. Having a helmet logo honoring our students isn’t like having a corporate paid logo — it’s not commercial ad space. I think it’s great.

Love this. I named my second son after a Blackfeet Indian. WOMAN.

I was lucky enough/honored to do the fused glass for a small chapel on the St. Labre school campus a few years back. If you’ve never stopped there to go through the museum, it is truly exceptional. The history and died quill beadwork blew my mind. That’s where much of the inspiration came for the pieces I fired for the chapel. The stripe on this helmet reminds me so much of the design work in the museum. It’s seriously worth the stop if you are traveling the “Warrior Trail”.

Yes, I get where Bsmith is coming from, but I firmly believe that MSU will never go that route for money or anything else on the football field. Besides the scoreboard is the advertising space, and if its controversial, it will not be there.Cataholic wrote: ↑Wed Nov 12, 2025 10:08 pmVery strange comment.
I cannot say the same for the U of missoula as they are broke, and in dire need of revenue.
The State of Montana is Bobcat country.
missoula....still just 20 miles from Montana.

Not sure if many of you know or not but the Bozeman city council did vote to have a certain flag, same one as Missoula, as their official city flag. I have not visited the town since this happened and am not making any plans to stop anytime soon.Bobcatsinmso wrote: ↑Thu Nov 13, 2025 6:25 pmYes, I get where Bsmith is coming from, but I firmly believe that MSU will never go that route for money or anything else on the football field. Resisting the temptation to respond directly to anyone in this thread, I'll just go ahead and add my opinion that these are freaking awesome and it's awesome that MSU is doing this.

Bozeman has numerous city flags. Butte and Missoula have similar flags. It was a reaction to an overreach by the MT legislature.Bsmithmsu wrote: ↑Fri Nov 14, 2025 8:51 amNot sure if many of you know or not but the Bozeman city council did vote to have a certain flag, same one as Missoula, as their official city flag. Very true, and none of them will ever show up on Bobcat football uniforms as one poster here appears to be highly afraid of.iaafan wrote: ↑Fri Nov 14, 2025 8:58 amBozeman has numerous city flags.Bsmithmsu wrote: ↑Fri Nov 14, 2025 8:51 amNot sure if many of you know or not but the Bozeman city council did vote to have a certain flag, same one as Missoula, as their official city flag.
