Keep an Eye on Tyson Scheel from Gallatin High... 6' 190 . Has 888 yards on 95 carries ( over 9 yards a carry average) and 10 TD's this year (Junior Year). Very hard runner, and pretty fast (Has a 82 yards TD run).

Re: 2027 Montana Recruits
I was at the West/Big Sky game watching my nephew. First off, what an incredible game.
These recruits showed out big time! Obviously, Ludwig is the headliner but that is kind of irrelevant for our recruiting discussion. That aside, I thought Lane and Walker were two of the best players on the field. Total game wreckers and I hope we can get both signed. With Walker’s length, range and ball skills, I could see him getting some FBS looks at some point. Jack had a good game too. Kid is a little undersized, but plays with great instinct.
On the Big Sky side, Quincy and Kane were total beasts on defense. Both must have had double digit tackles and couple for loss at key moments. They gave West fits in the second half. Quincy is another kid I could see getting some FBS looks at some point. Man-child. I agree that Eli probably isn’t a FCS level QB, but he is an athlete that will translate at some position. Noticed they sprinkled him in at LB a few times.
Overall a great game. West has the athletes to go up an give Glacier some fits this Friday!

In all of our excitement, have we missed the announcement of the Montana high school SuperState team (that is what it’s called right?)

Now that I think about it, I think this team stopped when Mansch retired from GF Tribune. Last one I can find is from 2018.94VegasCat wrote: ↑Sun Jan 18, 2026 8:30 pmThanks VimVimSince03 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 17, 2026 6:32 pmI haven't seen one of those in 4 years.94VegasCat wrote: ↑Sat Jan 17, 2026 3:05 amIn all of our excitement, have we missed the announcement of the Montana high school SuperState team (that is what it’s called right?)![]()

Looks like a prospect with elite physical traits and very little experience.
I assume we are recruiting him as a wide receiver?

Yep. He's kind of in that Tanner Bleskin/Rocky Lencioni territory in that he could be a big receiver or a move tight end...it depends on where the coaches like him. So far Vigen has pushed a lot of these body types to TE like Rocky and Carter Curnow. However, Gunnar is more raw than all those players as a football player at this point in his career and my inkling here is that he wants to be a basketball player in college but that's what recruiting is all about! He's not as sudden of an athlete but he can run and "be big" with his great length.Travelingcat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 21, 2026 9:24 pmLooks like a prospect with elite physical traits and very little experience.

Re: 2027 Montana Recruits
Easy to blame Jackson for all of his decisions up to this point but he's a common example of the current climate in recruiting. Originally signed with Boise State but Vigen recruited him to MSU with a great opportunity to develop in one of the best programs in the FCS. He then gets the Brennan Marion recruiting blitz plus promises of NIL at Sac State and suddenly things change. This was the point where Jackson and his family had a decision to make and they felt the best route for him was through Sac State and Marion's offense which is very QB friendly. I can only imagine how much jargon was thrown at him over the past year. Then Marion leaves for Colorado and doesn't recruit Pressley to Colorado so does Jackson stay at Sac State or dive back into the recruiting pool? He now ends up at Portland State...which is pretty crazy when he STARTED as a Boise State commit at the beginning of last year. However, in a weird way he can now be a part of a rebuild with an energized staff over in Portland. Still very intrigued to see how he develops. Jackson is an incredible kid and his recruitment has been steady since he was freshman in high school. It's easy to say "hey...you had a great situation in Bozeman with Vigen...why even consider Sac State?" but that is much easier said than done.
I've been hearing this a lot over the past year where fans are going after the kids for these decisions but not really discussing how rotten the system currently is where sharks are literally everywhere and parents/family members get a little too involved. Hindsight is 20/20 but these kids and their "team/family" need to dive deeper into foresight. Maybe just play out some of these scenarios before committing to a certain situation. I'm not saying it was a sure thing Marion was going to bounce out of Sac State sooner than later but they've been in a volatile situation at Sac for a year and a half now. Just glad he still gets to go to a FCS/FBS program and have a shot to compete. The system ate him up then had no problem spitting him back out and the result was an offer from Portland State. Good luck to Jackson.

Good luck to the young man. Can we say that he may now officially be playing for the JV’s?VimSince03 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 25, 2026 3:14 pm
