I heard 3200 in the Portal.Cataholic wrote: ↑Sun Jan 18, 2026 11:18 amThere are still 1,600+ FBS and another 1,700+ FCS players still in the portal with no commitment. Why would MSU want to rush into anything? The Gris has picked a couple FBS guys that have close to no snaps at that level. I am okay waiting to fill specific needs with guys that were seeking G5 offers that never materialized. MSU is looking like an ideal option when the dust settles. Lamson is a great example.

I think a lot of those numbers are coming from players that were told they don’t have a spot on the team anymore. Would be interesting to see a breakdown on the FCS numbers on who was a starter and who wasn’t.gtapp wrote: ↑Mon Jan 19, 2026 7:21 amI heard 3200 in the Portal.Cataholic wrote: ↑Sun Jan 18, 2026 11:18 amThere are still 1,600+ FBS and another 1,700+ FCS players still in the portal with no commitment. Yeah, I would expect more Rohan Jones situations than Lamson at the FCS level.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Sun Jan 18, 2026 9:31 pmIn general, transfers tend to be easy come, easy go. So if they come in, have success, they're more likely to leave imo. They've already done it once, so doing it again isn't a huge stretch. Obviously you'll get some like Lamson that don't, but this is just my general thoughts on it.Montanabob wrote: ↑Sun Jan 18, 2026 7:22 pmOn a side note, most of the paid guns from the portal, have more than one year of eligibility remaining. Now will they stay or do like Suck state and flee.PapaG wrote: ↑Sun Jan 18, 2026 4:56 pmThe Gris literally need a roster and can’t be all that selective. Bobby has picked this to be how that program is run for the rest of his time as coach.Cataholic wrote: ↑Sun Jan 18, 2026 11:18 amThere are still 1,600+ FBS and another 1,700+ FCS players still in the portal with no commitment. MSU will fill a few holes but the roster is mostly built and next years team won’t miss a beat. Easy choice as preseason #1 and a solid favorite to make Nashville again.
Hauck seems to be panicking to try and stack low-tier FBS talent into a championship FCS team, but I’m hardly an objective. There is a world where they aren’t a top-8 seed and it may be more likely than not. Love it!

In the words of that famous philosopher Aaron Rogers, Relaaax. There are transfers coming in that haven't been announced yet.
