I wonder if the MWC saw the ratings for the Super Brawl and thought "maybe it wouldn't be so bad to have those MT schools in our tv contract after all".

Showing pressure on fourth down in overtime. They bring pressure. Lamson throws...Endzone! Caught! TOUCHDOWN!!! Taco Dowler!

And a kick away from a championship.

Here we go. Miles Sansted. Snap, hold, kick, Up, GOOOOD!! FOR A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!

I am once again very against moving up to the current FBS climate. Big fish in a small pond beats playing in the goddamn Idaho Potato Bowl as the best possible ending to our season

Oh good, another FBS/Move Up thread. I'm sure this won't be yet another rehash of the same arguments we've already had dozens of times before!

Andrew Schmidt is a self proclaimed Stugotz. He's made so many predictions that didn't come to pass and has so many claims that have zero credibility. Nothing to see here. Ignore him.

Yeah, this isn't the first time he's put stuff out there about MSU & UM moving to FBS. The guy just wants attention and doesn't care how he gets it.

I don’t want to be a G6 team in the current landscape, but I don’t think the current structure of CFB is long for the world. P4 is going to want to split into its own level, stripping money from the G6. At that point G6 conferences aren’t going to be looking to add teams and split a smaller profit pot than they’re used to. If we’re not in the G6 at that point, we’ll be stuck in a third tier of football.

That's always been my view as well. It's why I've leaned towards moving up.

Winning a national championship is sure fun though. \:D/

James Madison moved up to FBS in 2023 and made the playoffs this year. Top 2 G5 conferences get auto berths & theres zero reason why MSU wouldn't immediately be competitive in the MWC or Pac Whatever.

I get your point, the bowl system is stupid, but it's not really a rational reason to oppose moving up.

We want to keep beating up on teams like Tennessee Tech, Abeline Christian, and Tarleton? More conference games against the likes of Portland State and UNC & Dixie State?

Maybe we should drop to NAIA so we could win more national championships. ](*,)

We need relegation
And a 10 team max in conferences. And regionalization. And guaranteed contracts for players. And a 'no-contact' rule for hiring coaches mid season.

Need a LOT of things to fix college football.

I agree with the sentiment but it’s not that G5 are guaranteed 2 spots it’s the top rated conference champions get in. Had Virginia won the ACC chipper they would’ve been in over I assume North Texas

This is the correct answer. It's moving up to maintain our current standing. This has all been pretty obvious since that major conference realignment back in 2012 or 2014 (I forget the exact year) when Texas A&M and Missouri went to the SEC, Nebraska went to the Big 10, etc.

You are who you hang out with. We've already reached the point for Montana State and Montana that it is almost a complete detriment to be in the Big Sky with many of the members of the conference.

So question for you if you want to answer it.

On your show, Ryan Tootell said he was giving ot 60/40 the griz beat Illinois State. I think it was Ty Gregorak? Thinks that The griz get manhandled. Your thoughts? I mean given how the Bobcats didn’t win the lines definitely and it could be argued the 2nd half the lines were not controlled by the Cats at all, I would argue the griz probably woulsve been rolled.

Sorry, yep, I meant one spot. Still, JMU easily earned that #5 conference champ spot this year.

I remember in college that there were a bunch of dudes who played on the varsity BB team in high school, but then signed up to play in the 'D' (lowest) league of intramural BB.

It never really made sense to me, but I guess some dudes just get off on beating up on a lower level of competition rather than playing against other guys of the same skill and athletic level?

Whatever floats your boat, I guess.

Our regular season games are, for the most part, kind of exciting scrimmages. There is no suspense with what the outcome will be, just by how much. However, the post season is awesome.

If we jumped up with the current state of college football, the regular season would be awesome, playing pier institutions and having the outcome not be a foregone conclusion. However, a meaningless bowl game as a reward for a decent season is really unappealing.

Replace meaningless bowl games with playoffs, that's the best scenario.

I honestly see a world when the restructure happens that the non P4 schools do set up a playoff, in that scenario there would be a playoff in tiers 1 & 3 (and lower) so might as well do it at that point
