Playoffs Rnd 2

Post by Long Time Cat » Sat Nov 29, 2025 3:25 pm

Well, the first round is over and there were a couple of upsets. The comeback by Yale was nearly unbelievable! South Dakota State returned to their old form with Chase Mason back. In general, the MVFC did well. It will be a fun second round. The gris might be wishing they had got the four seed instead of the three seed since now they have to play South Dakota State. I’m guessing that’s gonna be a battle. I’m still trying to decide who I’d rather see in a rematch between the jacks and the gris but I guess it’ll have to be the jacks because I always want the gris to lose!

Ya, normally I feel like UM gets breaks with the scheduling due to $$ that stadium brings but this year... they have a brutal path. SDSU, then maybe USD, then at MSU and if they make it through that gauntlet (They won't), ding ding ding - NDSU!

Griz got to basically keep their seed while losing Cat/Griz at home, committee had to do something to make up for that.

Poetic justice and I’m loving it. We had to endure for 3 months telling us how ****** SDSU was. When they had that string of losses they were going on about how the jacks weren’t even making playoffs. We tried telling everyone that would listen that the Jacks were down their qb and others and that made a HUGE difference. They were the #2 ranked team at one point for a reason.

But shocking, griz fans refused to see it. They were too busy telling us how amazing North Dakota and Idaho were! lol. Well now so many of them are singing a different tune. Suddenly it’s a really tough matchup. Suddenly mason is really good. It’s comical.

It’s a win win for me. If the jacks win that’s hilarious and I want another crack at them. If griz win we can hear for two more weeks how great the Jacks were and the griz took them down. Then we’ll get to beat UM worse than last time in a rematch they all claim we shouldn’t want. Next few weeks are going to be amazing!

Let's just focus on beating Yale. Their RB, Pitsenberger, is a load and they have two very good WR's. Youngstown was able to get to the Yale QB early and often so hopefully we can too.

I’m focusing on any and all games all the way to Nashville. I bet the cats are focusing on Yale way more than I am. We’ll beat them by about 30 I’m guessing

That Mercer/USD matchup is interesting, and the winner of that game would host SDSU if they win in Missoula... still a TON of football to be played, so it's unwise to assume SDSU will win two road games in a row. Have they done it before? Yes, but it's still really hard to do.

Glad to be playing Yale and not YSU, I think the Cats will be better able to defend their strongest unit rather than chasing the YSU QB all over the field in a week. Also really looking forward to playing an Ivy League team. For the historians out there, has MSU football ever played an Ivy league school?

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

Yes, but if the Griz lose you know we'll all hear about how SDSU is not only really good when their QB plays but they've improved and are way better now than they were when the Cats played them. Actually, most Griz fans will say that win or lose

Eh, I don’t think it is unwise for fans to think anything about any teams. If the jacks make it to Bozeman I’ll love it. If they don’t I won’t be able to care less. Same with the griz or any other team. All I care about is the Cats keep winning. It may be unwise for me to think they’re winning 3 home games too but i don’t care.

I think we’ll pound Yale next week. And expect us to win the following week as well. But you all can breathe easy because just like every year at this time, I’m assuming the players and coaches are solely focusing on Yale and no one else. I’m already looking ahead to semifinals and hopefully another national championship. lol.

Unless I'm missing something, the official NCAA bracket shows Davis/URI at 3 P.M. Eastern, so that would be a 1 P.M. MDT, right?

Never mind. I missed seeing that Davis is hosting. So it looks like 12 is the correct time. Sorry.

Realistic chance that the Mecca of the Decibel owns a 2-game losing streak to end the season?

A quick look at SDSU shows they will still be missing a leading Receiver (O'Groske), Right Tackle (Hagen), Right Guard (BigBow), Defensive End (Kirschenman), and Sam (Van Tol). They are still retooling their OL per HC in his presser. Otherwise everybody is back. Hopefully there is a JackRabbit out there that can confirm this?
