Re: Vigen Oregon State rumors.
It's worth remembering from Vigens point of view: There will be an Oregon State quality job opening every single year. And Vigen will be in the discussion for those jobs west of the Mississippi every single year. And the pay will increase every single year.
Theres literally zero downside to Vigen staying in Bozeman to complete the job of winning a natty. He can bail at the end of a middling season like in 2023 and have his pick of landing spots.
Vigen is savvy. Theres no reason for him to go full Choate & end up in a crappy situation.

I agree with everything here except the belief that he could have his pick after a middling season. He will need to keep having good seasons to have that kind of choice (I think he will continue to have good seasons, to be fair.)onceacat wrote: ↑Thu Nov 27, 2025 12:05 pmIt's worth remembering from Vigens point of view: There will be an Oregon State quality job opening every single year. As long as we're defining middling as "losing to NDSU by a missed XP in OT in the playoffs" I think he'll be fine.CalgaryCat wrote: ↑Thu Nov 27, 2025 12:50 pmI agree with everything here except the belief that he could have his pick after a middling season. By ‘middling’ I mean a season like 2023 where the Cats are worthy of a Top 8 seed, but lose by a point to a DSU in a QF game.CalgaryCat wrote: ↑Thu Nov 27, 2025 12:50 pmI agree with everything here except the belief that he could have his pick after a middling season. Sounds to me like Shepard is in an enviable negotiating position. I think he is enjoying a very happy Thanksgiving.

Re: Vigen Oregon State rumors.
Outside looking in, do you think it can happen for OSU to get to a place where they're on par with Oregon? Not being an ass, genuinely curious. For a long time we were always 2nd to the Griz, but we finally caught and surpassed them. Our goal now is to topple NDSU and become clearcut #1 FCS team in the country every year and win a bunch of National Championships. Some of us are concerned about whether that is possible due to the momentum, tradition, facilities, support, and most importantly MONEY that NDSU has. Yes a head coach bad hire can derail a team for a couple years but overall I'm guessing OR is top dog over there and it will be that way for quite a while?DB50 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 27, 2025 4:11 pmMy dude he’s working the phones on Thanksgiving;) he’s Bamas WR coach.
