Pass rush was probably the best it’s been all year. 5 sacks even though Pinnick slipped out of about 10 others.

Allowing that Davis TD so quickly in the 4th quarter was not great.

At least 30 yards of incorrect flags from the officials. The flop by Pinnick led to a BS 15 yard PF, the blatant non-called horse collar on Adam Jones.
Pinnick flopping for flags several times. He’s a great player but he needs to quit that ridiculousness, it makes him look like a big puss.

I'd add:

Good: Both lines played extremely well
Bad: Caden Pinnick is slicker than snot, but we have got to find a way to neutralize those kinds of Qbs, he gashed us on the ground. Tackling needs to improve as well.

4. The team was challenged today and came back swinging.

Bad:
1. Offensive play calling at the beginning of the game left me scratching my head.
2. Lamson was jumpy/antsy for the first half of the game. This worries me for Cat/gris.
3. Not having a spy on their QB1 and watching him run wild.
4. It wasn't the best tackling game from our defense.

Ugly:
1. The referees made themselves a major factor in the game. It was so bad that the color on ESPN commented on it several times.
2. The "sportsmanship" of UCD's QB1.
3. Settling for a field goal on a bad 3rd down QB designed run that was stuffed. Our RBs were doing great. Why we called a QB run near the goal line on a third and three mystifies me.

Ugly - the announcers on ESPN. Since when is 3rd and 3 on your own 48 yard line in the 2nd quarter a 4-down situation?

Good: The crowd was electric! Looked good and sounded loud throughout the broadcast. ESPN was enamored with that beer snake.

Bad: It appeared to me some UCD players intentionally flopped to the turf while running during kick / interception returns once passed by the returning MSU player as if trying to draw an illegal block to the back penalty.

Every time we get that white hat, it’s a wreck. He’s the one that threw the flag for Pinnicks flop. Yeah Crews gave him a bit of a push but not worthy of a flag.

I think that TE 0 is a mismatch for most LBs at the FCS level. He’s really good.

I agree with zebracat... that was on caden... they were in a run stopping defense everyone on the line cov3 behind it, ran PA to make caden play with his mind and eyes.. he bit too hard on a play that he doesn't have force in..... the 2nd think was on caden.... either mcmillan was wrong or Williams was wrong.... mcmillan stayed on his side soon as the wr left his side expecting the opposite wr to come to him.... Williams took off running soon as the wr began to cross...caden saw color flash across his face and he took off running based off communication with mcmillan before the play..... don't know which one was wrong but u don't think it was on caden.

I'm not taking anything away from U.C. Davis. Plough is an excellent coach-- probably the best pure offensive mind in the conference-- and Pinnick is arguably the best overall player at QB. They're good.

But the officiating last night was wretched. UCD's long drive that ended in a missed FG featured as least four blatant holds that were not called. If you want to let players play that way, fine. But the very first play on the Bobcats' ensuring possession, they throw the flag for a hold that was far less egregious than any that they had just let slide.

I don't know who that white hat is, but every time he officiates a Cats' game, they get screwed. If I see him out there at the coin toss, I just assume that the Cats have a TD handicap to overcome.

So again, not taking anything away from the Aggies. They're good and if they're not in the playoffs, it's a tremendous injustice. But if that game is called even, the margin of victory is larger.
