Re: Most recent opponent coach fired?
Wasn't long ago it would be a pretty coveted job. Now it's pretty much a rebuild. Probably more resources than then 2/3 of the Big Sky but when Jay Hill left there was a lot more talent on that team than there is now.

No pun intended, but that whole team was in mental freefall on Saturday and on full display

Terrible thread title.
Anyway, this is a surprise to no one. Great FCS opportunity for someone.

Re: Most recent opponent coach fired
Their player throwing a punch might be what sped up what was already inevitable. It's hard to see the administrators looking at that any other way than the coach completely lost control of the program.

I know it was not called, but a player threw the punch and did not get called for it in the northern Arizona game I believe I am questioning my memory. It could’ve been northern Colorado.
I said in another thread, I actually felt sorry for Weber. As a player it’s gotta be pretty frustrating to take that kind of beating.

Re: Most recent opponent coach fired
There was also another Weber guy punching an MSU player on the MSU sideline. Julius blocked the guy into the bleachers and the guy pulled back and took a punch, but another MSU guy caught the punch with his helmet. The refs didn’t see it, but Weber showed a complete lack of discipline all game.kwcat wrote: ↑Mon Nov 10, 2025 3:10 pmI know it was not called, but a player threw the punch and did not get called for it in the northern Arizona game I believe I am questioning my memory. Vigen held one guy back and then chased after a couple others to keep them off the field. Was pretty amusing. Could see him talking with Julius after the play, you can tell those guys all love Vigen.Cataholic wrote: ↑Mon Nov 10, 2025 9:34 pmThere was also another Weber guy punching an MSU player on the MSU sideline. Re: WSU head coach Mental fired
No surprise there, Mental and his coaching staff sounded in all their interviews last week like they were well aware that the end was near...it will be interesting to see how many other Big Sky openings there are this off-season.
Vigen - Will receive FBS interest
Hauck - Could receive FBS interest but a decade older than Vigen and seems happy in Missoula
Plough - Seems likely to stay at UC Davis for now especially if Mountain West move materializes
Wulff - Should be safe at Cal Poly, program is improving
Barnum - Does PSU even care enough to finally let him go?
Best - Under contract through 2027, can EWU afford to buy him out?
Lamb - Should be safe at UNC but could attract interest from better FCS programs
Hawkins - Same as Lamb, safe at ISU but may be an intriguing candidate for other programs
Ford - Tough year at Idaho but he won't be fired after one season
Wright - Doing a nice job at NAU, should be safe
Anderson (Utah Tech) - 3-19 record so far in second year, will they want a fresh start entering the Big Sky?
Fitzgerald (SUU) - Has done a nice job, 12-10 overall and nearly made the playoffs in 2024. Safe.

Not to be that guy, but it’s pretty typical for teams with a heavy LDS influence.
BYU is the dirtiest team in college football with fans that make the Gris look like girls you’d take home to mom.
No way throwing punches is an issue at a Mormon school.

Watch for Lamb going to Weber. Lots of Utah connections. Much better facilities. He could make them a force in the Big Sky.MSU01 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 10, 2025 9:54 pmNo surprise there, Mental and his coaching staff sounded in all their interviews last week like they were well aware that the end was near...it will be interesting to see how many other Big Sky openings there are this off-season.

This spot on... I've always said the worst fans live in Utah. Sure, they don't say curse words, but it's not what you say... It's how you say it. Also, Utah Jazz fans are the lowest of the low.onceacat wrote: ↑Mon Nov 10, 2025 10:44 pmNot to be that guy, but it’s pretty typical for teams with a heavy LDS influence.

Re: Most recent opponent coach fired
Not really, at least not the BYU part. BYU football has long had a reputation of playing dirty, to the echo of the whistle, and taking cheap shots. Dunno if it's strictly an LDS thing, but BYU football's reputation certainly precedes them...Cataholic wrote: ↑Mon Nov 10, 2025 10:58 pmWhat a dumb and ignorant take.onceacat wrote: ↑Mon Nov 10, 2025 10:44 pmNot to be that guy, but it’s pretty typical for teams with a heavy LDS influence.

Re: WSU head coach Mental fired
Funny you mention it, I was thinking the exact same thing last week as people were discussing WSU coach interviews leading up to the game. Honestly, this league is better when Weber is good.Cataholic wrote: ↑Mon Nov 10, 2025 10:57 pmWatch for Lamb going to Weber. Lots of Utah connections. Much better facilities.
