gris have to go on the road to Fargo. If they pull off the upset, we get the chance to have the most epic Cat/gris ever. And what would be a rematch against a team that the Cats would have just beat in their own house.
If it goes as expected, we go get a shot at NDSU once again, but it’s not in Fargo or Frisco.
There are two places I’d really rather not play in the playoffs, Fargo and Missoula. This would avoid both of them.
What a lot of people were thinking might be a 4, possibly 5 team race may just be a 3 team race. The #2 seed might be the ideal spot to let the other two contenders meet before Nashville.

IF the gris lose the Brawl they'll be 11-1 with no FBS wins and only 9 FCS wins (remember they played a DII school) and a loss at home to a top 5 FCS school.
IF we lose the Brawl we'll be 9-3 with an FBS loss to a top 5 FBS team and a OT FCS loss to SDSU at home(who will have at least 2 if not more losses)
Even IF Tarleton wins out, the winner of the Brawl will be ranked above them. However, the loser of the Brawl I think will be #4 or lower, below Tarleton, especially if we lose the Brawl.
I could also see an 11-1 Tarleton with an FBS win along with 10 FCS wins and a close loss to an FCS top 20 on the road, would be ranked above an 11-1 (10-1 FCS) um with a loss at home. It could depend on how bad we beat them.
IF we were ranked #2 and the gris got the #3 seed, I would relish them having to come to Bozeman 4 weeks after we beat them at wa-gris.
If the Cats win by a walk off FG, I could see the Cats and gris just flip flopping in the standings. We’d still get #2 and they’d likely get #3 even with Tarleton winning out.
If the Cats can win by a couple scores, and Tarleton wins out, gris would likely drop down to #4 and Tarleton would get the #3.
The problem is if we lose and Tarleton wins out. We’d get at best the #4, maybe even the #5, putting us on a collision course with NDSU in Fargo.
Cat/gris is absolutely huge this year. Not just for the home field advantage up until Nashville, but also the chance to avoid the other main contender until Nashville.
However, if the gris lose the Brawl, even if my 1 score, they'll be a 10-1 FCS team, w/a home loss, and w/o a FBS win, versus a 10-1 FCS team w/a FBS win to make them a 11-1 D1 record w/ a road loss. I could see Tarleton jumping both the CATS and um........but it'd be close.

What is the last “trap” game MSU has fallen to under Vigen?
Look, after what happened to MSU @ UC Davis last year, they aren’t overlooking this game. Plus it’s a night game, last home game before playoffs…2506 is exactly right, it’s not a trap game.

On October 15, the FCS Playoff Committee released the following Top 10 rankings/seeds………
1. NDSU
2. SDSU
3. Tarleton State
4. Montana State
5. Montana
6. UC Davis
7. Lehigh
8. UND
9. Monmouth
10. Tennessee Tech
Tomorrow, W Nov 5th, they’ll release another ranking/seeding of what they are thinking. I believe the announcement will be on ESPN2@noon(?).
My guess will be NDSU, MSU, um, Tarleton, ???????. I just don't see anything that NDSU, MSU or um have done since Oct 15 to change their rankings compared to the others........we’ll see.

One thing that changed is sdsu has lost twice since then, which makes MSU’s fcs loss look not as good. If the griz move ahead of us, that would be the only reason why. Yep, and it's interesting to note that whether the rankings are UM 2, MSU 3, or MSU 3 and UM 3.... it makes absolutely zero difference assuming they both win out until the brawl.91catAlum wrote: ↑Tue Nov 04, 2025 6:01 pmOne thing that changed is sdsu has lost twice since then, which makes MSU’s fcs loss look not as good. Good Point. The SDSU loss to NDSU I don’t think hurts SDSU (ie. us) but the ISU loss sure does. Remember, UND lost to USD which hurts um somewhat.91catAlum wrote: ↑Tue Nov 04, 2025 6:01 pmOne thing that changed is sdsu has lost twice since then, which makes MSU’s fcs loss look not as good.
