QB Situation
This is early in the season but in light of the evidence so far, 3 games under center, Carpenter had a brilliant game at CU and has not been able to muster any offense in the other two. The yards from last weeks game came when the game was lost and we were being given softer coverage. His interceptions have come at the worst times and in the worst scenerios. They have killed the offense.
Rolovich has not had the shot that Carpenter has to lead the team, but when he is in the team has more rythym on the offensive side of the ball, and he shows more nimble feet and greater pocket presence.
In my view, it is time to work Rolovich as the number 1 all week and give him next weeks game to prove himself through 4 quarters.

I agree...all the third down completions were a little crazy, not to mention 5 touchdown passes and over 300 yards passing...bobcatmaniac wrote:There are by far many more problems with this team than the darn QB!! True enough, this thread is ONLY speaking to the QB situation. Start a DEFENSE thread and lets weigh in on that too.bobcatmaniac wrote:There are by far many more problems with this team than the darn QB!! Maybe the fact that we went 3 and out ALL first half with Carp under center. You can't leave a defense on the field for 20 of the 30 first half minutes and expect them to keep the offense from scoring.bobcatmaniac wrote:There are by far many more problems with this team than the darn QB!! I know there are other issues, but the complete lack of offense in the first half cost us the game.

Leadership is the biggest thing missing and I'm not convinced either Carpenter or Rolovich have the demeanor to pull this team together. Someone needs to be able to stand in that huddle and rally the troops. I hate to say it, because I'm a Carpenter fan -he's put in the time in the trenches. But if he can't maintain confidence in himself once the team falls behind, how is the team supposed to be confident in him?
Either one of these guys needs to find some big boy pants this week, or another offensive player needs to take the reins. Who's it gonna be?

Nobody thought that a freshman from Oregon could come in and turn a season around in 2002 either. I would not say "no way" but at this point we are not out of anything so there is no reason to put him in. I think that Rolo does need to start next week.grizfallsbobcat wrote:Do you honestly think he would do better...Sorry but no wayPete Gerabachez wrote:I say burn Desin's redshirt. I'm so fricking pissed about this loss.... rtb had a good comment about why we lost by forty FRICKING points. No defense in the world is designed to be in ALL game. If the offense decides to put a drive or two togther it keeps the defense from getting dog tired. We held them to 17 points in the first half quite a feat when we only got one first down the whole half. Rolo needs to start next week. He came out way too late in this game to make any difference, the team had already given up. But don't say he can't lead the team, you can't possibly know that because he has not been given the chance. If he goes out and our performance is exactly the same as it has been than fine, he also can't lead, but we don't know that yet. It's also not just about standing in the huddle and rallying the troops, it has alot to do with making plays. Most players will rally themselves if they feel they have a chance and they trust the guy at the top. I've spent the last several weeks saying I thought Rolo was better and have been continully told, no no just wait Carp will be fine. BS, Rolo even looked better in the scrimmages yet we stuck with a guy because he put in the time. Thats fine for a couple weeks but in the middle of a game where he can put no offense togther it's time to take a seat. Should have been done alot earlier than it was in this game. We also have a curse at reciever that has been the case for quite sometime now and that is learing to catch the ball. I heard Kramer say after the CU game that this reciever corps does not drop balls, I don't know if he jinxed us or what but we need to find some solution to this. Also while I'm thinking about it, why in the F*** do we not have a QBs coach besides Bailey. Number one there is way way way too much to do as an O coordinator to be coaching skill positions. Find someone competent and get Bailey out of that job, I think it's part of the reason they left Carp in so long yesterday. Alright, now that I've released some of my anger at this crap I'll get off my soapbox, they better find a solution to it next week or all that this staff has built over the last several years stands to come crashing down. I dread going back to the days of Hysell, but I sure felt like I had a flashback yesterday.

If this is true I am FLAT OUT PISSED! Why put the kid in and set him up to fail if he is that sick? He should have not been playing if he was sick as that could have put him in greater danger and now there aren't too many fans who trust Cory as the QB. For Cory's sake and the team he should have not played if he had been sick all week.duelalumnicat wrote:I didn't hear Attebury's post game interview with Kramer yesterday, I was told that Kramer said that Cory Carpenter had been sick all week, and that his poor performance yesterday was, in part, caused by his illness aggravated by his diabetes. Does anyone out there know whether this is true?
