Going to be a long year if the O-line can’t figure it out. SDSU was getting lots of pressure with only 4 guys. I don’t know how we ended with 200+ rushing yards. Our run game seemed inefficient, until the OT. I’m not sure if it was the play calling or the qb deciding to run way too often.
The defense played really well. That is a promising sign. A few really dumb penalties, 12 men on the field?!?
Guesses on how far we fall in the rankings?
Lamson had 20 carries (some of them were sacks & scrambles, but at least 10 were designed runs) and the best RB in the conference had 9 carries.
Thats a coaching decision thats REALLY hard to process.

Looks like I’m on the fire Vigen train again. It looked like he learned lessons and made improvements last year. Looks like I miss judged that one. Had no expectations against Oregon but this was a world class leg wetting.
Is it worth taking solace in the fact that Vigen is consistently mediocre?
2 natty appearances is mediocre? Crazy talk

We literally graduated one of the most dynamic players in program history and are still competing with the top of the FCS. Vigen is a stud.
Oh great another Vigen apologist. How many losses against the dsu and gris will be enough for you to say show him the door?
Only thing better than watching the gris lose is when the Cats win

Still not a well timed screen or two and will we ever consistently attack the middle/seams of the field with the TE.
We fall to 9 or 10 in the rankings.

Found the playbook of the fire Vigen folks:

Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

College overtime has gone from unwatchable to beyond unwatchable with the new rules
By far the worst OT in sports. Just trash.
People say some crazy things on this thread, but college football OT is far and away the best OT rule in any sport any division.
Its an order of magnitude better than any other sport.
SMH
Lol
And, yet true. Better than a shootout. 1000x better than NFL. Better than basketball extra period or extra innings.
Nothing else even comes close.
It literally is a shootout lol
College OT is fundamentally a completely different format than the rest of the game. You're completely changing the rules of the game.
It's a different game altogether.
You're starting at the 25 without doing anything to earn getting there. First OT is basically guaranteed 3 points without even moving the ball. That's not football.
A long time ago, teams started on the 15 and there was no requirement to go for two. You really wouldn’t have liked that.
Yep, going for 2 after the 1st OT is a huge improvement.
Of course you are going kick a 75% field goal without moving the ball. Thats what puts pressure on the other team.
BEST. OT. IN ANY SPORT, ANY LEVEL.
And not even close.

Too many RB passes for touches and not getting into a downhill running game imo. Run to open up passing lanes not pass to open up running lanes. Playoff mentality

LOL, lose to the #2/3 team in double OT when they were favored (I thought differently, BTW) and you think that the Cats are going to fall behind UIW or Tarleton?
LOL, put down the bottle.
Cats don't drop at all.

This board is nuts. 2 natty appearances. Oklahoma State showed everyone how dominant Oregon is and we just lost a tight game against one of the premier programs in FCS. It’s amazing how much perspective some Cat fans have lost. We all want to win but I’m willing to bet that a lot of you look foolish at the end of the season.
Yeah, theres plenty to be critical of, in particular the OC calling 15 or so designed runs for Lamson...and whoever is in charge of the punt team...
But these comments are bonkers.
Cats are still a lock for the Semis and its not even close to the #4 team.

This team will turn a corner. I think Lamson will be a great QB but they can’t use him like Tommy. Definitely not an ideal way to start the season, but after tonight’s performance they didn’t deserve the win. They can and I believe will grow from these last two games.

Lock for the semis? We don't make past the quarters, if we make the playoffs at all.
Sorry, but as a life long Cat fan, we're done for the next 2-3 years...at least.

You didn’t answer the question. How many more times do you want to lose to the gris and dsu schools?
You can flaunt his record all you want but how many of those victories come against equally matched programs and rosters?
Only thing better than watching the gris lose is when the Cats win
