I read somewhere, haven't found it again, that Sac had 7 sacks on SDSU. Can anyone confirm that? And if true, is that something MSU might see success doing too?
Correct. 7 sacks for 39 yards.
So is that a SDSU weak area, the O line, or was Sac's D that good? Or just a first game fluke?

SDSU still looked pretty stout on their lines, the biggest problem was the QB holding the ball for too long, Sac has some dudes and they can be a problem.

The Jackrabbit Illustrated guys basically said this. They are starting a R-FR at center though. The O-line did well run blocking but struggled in pass pro. Several of those sacks came late in the game. The Jacks had a 17 point lead and Mason said he though it was better to eat the ball then try force something. Props to the QB for understanding the game flow and situation.

I felt like SDSU's defense hasn't dropped off a significant amount since last season. Bobcat offense will have to execute. Their offense was pretty ok. They relied on their offensive line to run the football decent and used that to get chunk plays in the passing game. The hornets looked lost a lot. They have talent but it wasn't a cohesive unit. The Cats are.
I was surprised how well our defense played last week. We had more personnel turnover on defense than offense, so I figured they would take a little longer to get going. Even if Sac State ends up being massively overrated (which is certainly possible), holding any team to131 yards and 7 1st downs is pretty impressive. It's got me a lot more confident that we can win than I was going into the game, preseason I was considering this almost a sure loss now I think it's closer to a toss up.
24 yard on 24 carries is nothing to sneeze at I don't care who your playing.

Sacks were a little bit of everything. The 1st sack was a snap that went over Mason's head and he had to fall on it. At least 2 sacks Mason came off his 1st read (that was well covered) pretty quickly and before he could get to the next one a man was already in his face. Others he held on to the ball too long. Sac State realized that once they started blitzing almost every play they would get into the backfield very quickly. They do have some dudes in the front 7, but I think we had some communication issues in picking them up too.

Cats open as 9 point dogs to the Jackrabbits. Yikes. That's not good.

I have no idea what to expect in this game. I think our home crowd will make a huge difference but in today's football environment, even at FCS, things can change so much from one year to the next. We truly had a great team last year and SHOULD have won the NC. But this is another year. Did anyone expect TCU to take the old man to the train station last night in front of a raucous home crowd filled with UNC celebrities? I'm still stung by last Saturday I don't care if it was Oregon. I was impressed at how FCS North Dakota competed against 17 ranked Kansas State, losing 38-35. Is the gap between say #17 Kansas State and #7 Oregon THAT huge? I don't know, maybe so.

Anyway, it will be interesting come Saturday night. I hope the players are up for playing not only emotionally at their top game, but also EFFICIENTLY. No stupid penalties, not wrapping up tackles, blown coverages, etc. The Bobcat fans will do their part, of that I'm certain. Go Cats!

Holy crap I will bet everything I own on that line. I can see a close game, even potentially a close loss, but I didn't see anything last week in either game that says SDSU will easily handle the Cats in Bozeman.

No way... link? I will put a LOT of money on that if that is really the line, which I doubt.

Reddit FCS Sports book had us at 11.5 dogs

I guess I’m in the minority. But 9 points seems about right.

At home, at night, Gold Rush? No way. If the line is anywhere near that when I go to a bar to watch the Tommy McMillan fight... I'm putting a bunch down on the Cats to cover that.

Even if we lost (not likely) I'd be surprised if it was by more than 4 points.

The first post had an error that didn't factor home field. They reposted at Cats +9. Its early in the season. Algorithms or models aren't gonna be great. Little or totally faulty data. No real book would hang that number.

Giving up 9 points to SDSU at home? Why would that seem right?

Cuz it's an opportunity to make money.

While registering my vehicles the assessor stated "I have had both Cat and Griz students and alums work for me and the Griz end up working under the direction of the Cats."

For what it’s worth, Kansas State dropped out of the top 25 and only received 7 votes in the AP poll. So maybe the gap between #7 and #17 isn’t as big as it seemed—perhaps the preseason rankings were just a bit off.

Depending on where you look Oregon is 4th to 7th best odds to win the National Championship at +800 to +1400. K State in +20000. There is a monster gap there.
CFB more than ever is fractured and the Big 10 is a 18 team league where around only 4 teams actually have a shot at winning it and will for the foreseeable future. At least the way things are now with NIL and all. There are 10 or 12ish teams that have a near zero shot of winning it. Oregon, Penn St, OSU, Michigan and maybe USC are semi pro football teams. The rest are just hoping to catch lighting in a bottle for a season.
