So about the Depth chart.

Typos? Or are we somehow getting Eiden and Brott for two more seasons?

I’m assuming they’re typos.

Be interesting to see how this shapes up over the next month and see what changes are made to it.
Um yeah... some head scratchers there, hopefully just typos. One position that looks quite concerning unless the numbers are way off, would be Left Tackle. I'm pretty sure Zimmer is 6.6"... and he damn well better be WAY heavier than 240.

Thoughts on the initial two-deep for Offensive Line:

Cedric Jefferson missed spring but will be given every opportunity to claim the LT spot where he started the first two games last year...and played well. However, Braden Zimmer (who is definitely not 6'0", 240 lbs.) is the type of developmental athlete Vigen loved coming out of high school to potentially man the LT spot. At 6'6" with a huge wingspan and good feet, Braden is your prototype at LT. He has put on good weight over his first two years (he's up closer to 280 now) and is now in a position to push for playing time. Braden also had a very encouraging spring.

JT Reed may still get reps at center but letting him run at the LG spot is the right choice in my opinion. Dylan Rollins backing him up is a minor surprise as I expect Dylan to compete for the RG spot but due to JT's touchy health status over the course of the season, Dylan may be playing a lot of starter reps any way.

Burke starting at center is something this staff has pushed for all year. He's a good athlete and struggles to get bullrushed by opposing defenders so I like that part of his game. I'm just not sold on his fit yet but Smith/Vigen want this spot for Burke. Tommy Nilson and Aiden Kaplan are the listed backups and that tracks with what we saw in the spring. If Burke does not own the spot, he and JT may flip-flop. Or JT goes to C, Dylan sticks at LG, and Burke goes to RG. It's one of the biggest competitions to watch in fall camp.

Everett Carr is a player I stated had one of the better spring balls of any Bobcat. I love his fit at RG. I hope he takes it and settles into the spot for the foreseeable future.

Nothing new to see at the RT spot with both Titan or Samora.

3 total seniors on the two deep (all on offense) but outside of the new KO/P and QB, all the starters have already seen lots of playing time.
Eiden, Brott, and Eckert should be listed as seniors on defense as well.
Yeah, I wasn't paying close enough attention.

Very interesting Media Day. Skyline/Colter will have it on YouTube (as will others).

My main takeaway was how motivated some of the guys came off. I was wondering what that would look like after the 1-0 mantra all year last season.

Taco gives a good spiel on leadership.

Jones breaks out a few names that he thinks will rise. One player was mentioned by him and Dowler as someone that is going to standout. Not on the depth chart.

I know they really like Zimmer at LT. Would be surprised if he isn't the starter or part of an equal snap share at minimum.

Music to my ears! I've never been a "OL guys have to be huge" guys, so 6' 6" and anywhere near 280 is perfectly fine in my book... and I trust these coaches 100%. I was just concerned if we were actually planning on playing a kid that was 240-250, regardless of how good he is. Would not hold up against the Oregon DL and any of the top FCS DLs for that matter.

Chance Wilson ran a 21.79 200m in high school. It would be one of the top 200 times in prep history in Montana. Like most 200s it would be quite a way behind the 21.06 by Chris Wilson (CMR), which IMO was the greatest sprint race ever run by a Montana prep athlete. I believe only 3-4 sprinters in state history ran it faster than Chance Wilson. His 21.79 was from his junior year as he skipped track his senior year to get started at MSU. I would guess he would've improved on that a little bit. Mellott's prep PR was 22.61. I've been told his long (75 yards?) run in the next to last spring scrimmage was impressive. Jeff Muri has the second fastest listed 200 time at 21.4, which is adjusted from his 220 back in 1975.

Lamson has proven to be a very strong inside runner in college.

Just throwing this out there to show that while MSU will miss Mellott's running there's still a lot of potential for MSU to get good rushing yardage from its QBs in 2025.

Regarding the pre-season depth chart…. Not having correct info (junior, senior, etc)…

Honestly, this stuff drives me crazy. It’s just lazy and embarrassing.

Whoever it is releasing this chart can’t take literally 30 seconds to look it over and see if that info is correct?

At this point, I’m convinced it’s MSU tradition to sprinkle in roster typos like confetti. It is just like home attendance always ending in a ‘7’.

Keeping the cards close to their chest. It's 4D chess.

Titan is in incredible shape. He’s 6-4, 300…looks like 260.

Yesterday, I looked at Tom and said, "Marcus Wehr was a great player, a beast of an OL that should've gotten a shot based on his tape, but that guy will get a shot purely on what he looks like."

Absolute specimen. Flat stomach at 300 pounds, which is just absurd
