The guy was actually unintentionally funny. I'm guessing that he must do Monster Truck Rallies after hearing his "3rd down, 3rd down, 3rd down" thing. I guess I didn't catch some of the stuff others did because I really wasn't pay much attention to what he was saying, but when it comes to pronounciations it's not as if the sound system is crystal clear (at least where I've sat). The guy wasn't any good by any stretch of the imagination, but geez, at some point this turns into a bunch of hens in the henhouse complaining! I certainly was more miffed at the game than by what some talking head was saying. Hopefully, EVERYONE will improve and we'll bounce back against UC Davis!

I'm fine with Atterberry. Not an improvement over Dean, but I think he's doing a fine job, and getting better. At least he's not the HOMER they have at dUMb.GavinDonos wrote:Dean was our play by play announcer. not PA. I guess the reason he isn't back is either because he's happy with his job in Billings, or Kris doesn't want to give up the "throne"
I copied the call when Cory Smith returned the opening kickoff for a score, and still get goosebumps listening to it. Matter of fact I played the CD after Saturday's game, and felt much better. Might suggest this remedy for those of us die-hards who have been through so much as Cat fans.

He's not even going to be doing the TV anymore....he has "prior commitments"SACCAT wrote:Dean works for a different radio station than the ones that do the games. He does the TV side of the games.

This is sooo true. On Saturday, in the fourth quarter with probably only six minutes left in the game, a pass was completed right in front of me. The receiver got knocked back about two yards from where he caught the ball. Official "F" came up and marked the ball where he went down; clearly two yards short of where he actually caught it. I completely lost it and all I know is that I lambasted that ref for about a minute straight. Right now, I know that I was totally out of line. But, at the time, I was just pissed about pretty much everything in the world and he happened to push the wrong button.Helcat72 wrote:...but when your team is looking bad...those kinds of mistakes are REALLY annoying!
So, "F" sorry for the tirade.

I just got an email this afternoon. Same thing about working on their game atmosphere yada yada yada. Although they obviously don't want us to know, either because they are not doing anything about it or are kicking the guys' a**, it sure would be nice to get a little something more substantial back than that... I would have preferred a little detail on how they are working on it so that I know my comments have been taken into consideration and not just brushed aside,
Oh well, at least we are having a good time bashing this unknown person. Perhaps he will check on here and just quit.

I agree that the whole losing thing might have made us a little harsh on the PA Announcer. However, this is the same guy who announced the home games last year. I was hpoing for an improvement, but if anything, he has gotten worse. Posters here were saying the exact same thing last year at this time:Billings Cat wrote:The guy was actually unintentionally funny. Actually, I heard the real reason they would not fly over was because they hate the PA announcer?gtfcat84 wrote:The reason there wasn't an F16 flyby is because there aren't any F16s--they have been deployed overseas while the runway in Great Falls is being rebuilt.

Other than the utterly inexplicable "MSU Billings" call, my favorite PA screwup from last weekend was when he referred to Marcosus LeBlanc as Matt LeBlanc (Joey from Friends). I'm sure it's harder than it looks, but you'd think that the PA announcer should at least be able to get the names of the school and starting players right!

It's good to see Joey out there making plays.
