Players that stepped up
Some guys really stepped up this year and kept us as a top team even with a lot of season ending injuries . Taco made HUGE strides, but also guys like Neil Daly, Paul Brott, Titan Fleischman, Bryce Grebe, Burke Mastel, heck Cole Sain saved us, and plenty of others. Would love to hear other thoughts on guys that made big improvements to fill possibly holes. Also interested to hear guys that could make this list next year.

Myles Sansted. Kid was huge all season. The one position where we all were worried after the previous season of watching missed XPs and FGs in critical moments. Myles became almost automatic, and he was a pleasure to watch. Can't wait to see how his progression develops.

Taki U. Tayden Gray. Not a ton of playing time but when they were needed they provided some depth and gave the starters rest when they needed it.

Re: Players that stepped up
There were four players at the beginning of the year I knew we couldn't lose if we wanted to win a title: Tommy, Schmidt, McCade/Danny U (either/or), and Rylan Ortt. Well we ended up losing two of them halfway through the season so the players that stepped up the most were Paul Brott, Neil Daily, and Bryce Grebe. From the Eastern game forward, Paul was arguably an All-American based on tape. Made a huge play in the title game, wrapping up Miller for a short gain when he had scrambling room. All it took was one hand and Paul brought him down. The coaches believed in our young LBs but the talk after last season was McCade was replaceable and we needed to bring in a transfer while no one had seen Neil since he was hurt his first several years and Bryce was a true freshman. To get that level of play from both of those LBs after virtually no experience in prior years was, to me, the reason our defense maintained its level of play. The definition of stepping up. Did they play the best title game? Not really but they still played really hard and gave 100% every snap.
The other was clearly Myles Sandsted. Insane trajectory from where we left off last year in the kicking game.

It's crazy to me that most of us thought we were a kicker away last year from playing for/winning a title. Well, Myles steps up huge and we still fall short--frustrating.VimSince03 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 11:16 amThere were four players at the beginning of the year I knew we couldn't lose if we wanted to win a title: Tommy, Schmidt, McCade/Danny U (either/or), and Rylan Ortt. One underrated piece was the huge amount of defensive depth we built. By my count, we'll be returning 18 players who had double digit tackles. Last year, we returned just 12. Possible we could lose one or two to the transfer portal, but we are going to bring back a lot of good experience on that side of the ball.

Our entire starting DL two-deep returns other than Brody. 12 guys are ready to roll on the front next year as sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Exactly what you want. 10 of them played in the title game.Travelingcat wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 11:39 amOne underrated piece was the huge amount of defensive depth we built.
