The Band Needs our Help
Email from MSU this morning:
Your MSU Bobcat football team is headed to the FCS national championship game in Frisco, Texas, and all along the way, the Spirit of the West Marching Band has been in the stands and on the field — filling the stadium with music that sets all of us on our feet to celebrate the accomplishments of such an exceptional group of student athletes. Coming from virtually every college and department on campus, the students in the Spirit of the West take pride in being an important part of the game day experience. With Blue and Gold running through their veins (and their trumpets and trombones), the marching band always reminds us that victory is in the air and what it means to be a Bobcat.
Won't it be amazing to see MSU spelled out on the football field at halftime for the January 6 championship final? Won't it be great for folks far and wide to hear Montana State's fight song? Won't it be exciting when thousands of Bobcat fans jump out of their seats to scream "Go, Cats, Go!" in unison with our marching band?
Transporting a 180-person marching band is no small feat! All those extraordinary students and staff, along with their instruments, need special care (and a lot of overhead bin space!) The band is going to Frisco! No question.
Your generous donation will help offset the estimated $300,000 in travel costs for the students and their instruments.
At Montana State, we believe that our sense of Bobcat community and support makes all the difference in the world. Will you stand with us today and send your donation to get our marching band to Texas? Because our Montana State University Spirit of the West Marching Band is ready to help you STAND UP AND CHEER on January 6!
Visit www.montana.edu/sotw to help offset the band's cost in our march to victory!!

Re: The Band Needs our Help
I will make a donation, but I guess my biggest question is how many band members will go? Technically, students are still on winter break until the middle of January, and the band numbers were pretty small yesterday. And from what I understand, a lot of the band yesterday was made up of alumni who came back to play in the absence of students.

Re: The Band Needs our Help
My biggest question is why it costs $300,000 to send some kids to Texas for a couple of days.

Hate that song.
HATE like Cam hates.
How about “Mountain Music” instead.
Much more fitting.
Or “Fishing in the Dark” by a MT group, which describes our Bobcats Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. (Lots of dirt roads ‘round Melstone). Night game and all, even has a fiddle.
Or the ol standard Mony Mony.
Eat gris bizen, Go Cats Go
What was the point of the thread?
Oh well, support the band, or support Feed the Cats, or volunteer at a soup kitchen. We all go out the same way.
Happy Holidays
It don’t matter

C’mon people, let’s pony up. $1500/band member is a steal. I’m going to end up paying $2K as part of a charter group, game tkt not included. We aren’t trying to bring dUMb’s band to Bozeman, we’re sending our & Wadid’s MSU Bobcat Marching Band to the National Championship stage. As a bonus, the clarinet player can sing the national anthem.
58-57!! You're final score!! Daniel Salle

And seriously man, the post I responded to was embarrassing as a Cat fan. Do you think the school is trying rip people off? WTF? Stupid.

Re: The Band Needs our Help
It was just a question about how many band members can actually make that trip because many of them are off on break and probably at home. Lighten up, Francis. Quit trying to act like you're a better fan. It's not a competition.Cataholic wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 9:10 pmYes. Re: The Band Needs our Help
I may not be a “better fan”, but I can tell you this, the last thought on my mind was “how many band members will go” which was your biggest question given the fill ins this weekend. Seems some others interpreted your question the same way.Camo_Cat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 9:29 pmIt was just a question about how many band members can actually make that trip because many of them are off on break and probably at home.
