The loudest sustained game was the SDSU. The loudest and frantic discrete noise was shortly following Corey Smith returning the opening KO for a TD in ‘03. The stadium was bat$hit crazy then.

UNH game is #1 for me, that place was deafening!!

SDSU in the semis #2 for sure. Give me more if we’re going to play in Texas.

Maybe it’s just me but Bobcat Stadium doesn’t have the juice this year vs other years.
I'll push back a little bit. For a regular season game, the night gave vs Idaho was darn loud. If we win and get into the semis, I bet it gets real loud. That 2021 SDSU game was the best non-Cat-Gris environment I've been a part of.

Agreed. The 2021 semifinal game was the most electric and loudest I've ever seen Bobcat Stadium.

Playoff crowds definitely can be different. Although not a playoff game, the first half of that Idaho game this season was electric, just like a Cat-gris feel. I even mentioned that to my family during the game. Unfortunately, the crowd didn’t come back in the second half though.
For me, the wildest games for noise were the 1984 Rhode Island game during the interception and subsequent kick off recovery and the 2021 SDSU game. Last years game against NDSU was pretty loud as well, even the NDSU players remarked on it.

You were there for the Rhode Island game? That must have been something else! I was this week years old when I learned that Eddie Robinson was doing the color commentary for that game.

I was in the East grandstands for both the 1984 and 2021 semi-final games and I’ll be there this year, when the Cats make it.
In 1984, I remember thinking that it would be extremely difficult for the Cats to come back if Rhode Island scored on that drive. Everyone was on edge during that last time out, and the next second, Joe picked that pass off. The crowd just went crazy and I’ll never forget the crowd roar and excitement during the return. You can hear one lady going nuts on the video when Joe is scoring and that was the feeling I had as well. I also recall the collision between Sikora and Roberts during the play and for some reason, I thought Sikora might get flagged for keeping Roberts upright, when it looked like he might fall. Weird stuff goes through your mind during the excitement of the play. I also thought Sikora might block that would be Rhode Island tackler in the back and get a penalty.
I couldn’t see much of the subsequent kickoff recovery from my seats, but the players went crazy when they recovered the ball and the crowd did as well. That roar might have been louder than during the interception. The jubilation in the stands was something I haven’t experienced since, but I bet the 2018 Miracle in Missoula would be comparable. After the Rhode Island game, I remember asking my mom if she’d buy me a plane ticket to South Carolina for the Natty, but she wasn’t having it. Funny thing is, I still have the wool pants and Montana State hoodie that I wore to that Rhode Island game.

You are correct, I was at the miracle game in the south end zone and the silence in the stadium was deafening.

FYI tomorrow is the start of the geminid meteor shower so should have a decent show for those driving home.

Speaking of that, I'm thankful that the travel conditions are looking pretty good. Some stuff coming in late Saturday maybe.

The roar in the Rhode Island game was deafening the stands were shaking. Listening to the replay now you can hear the crowd so loud and I don't know why it was basically just the two sides. I know we have loud crowds now but you cannot hear that roar on tv the same as it was that day. The SDSU game also had to be the second best ever.

I was looking at the ‘84 replay a while back and I noticed some fans leaving the stadium before the interception. I wonder what they thought when they heard that roar a few seconds later.

FROM THE NET:
SOUND TRAVEL- Yes, sound can travel better in the cold because sound waves refract more and travel farther in colder temperatures:
REFRACTION- Sound waves refract more in cold air, bending towards the ground. This is because the top of the sound wave travels faster than the bottom in warmer air, causing the wave to bend down.
DISTANCE- Sound travels farther in cold air than in warm air. For example, you might be able to hear a train horn or avalanche from a greater distance on a cold day.

This might be my favorite post ever on BobcatNation. I’m no spring chicken and I’ve seen plenty of Bobcat pain, but you Sir have seen it all! Thanks for sticking with the team through the last 40+ years! You, along with the student athletes, are what make being a Cat so fun. We have all had different experiences based on when we were there, but we’re all here today and we’ll be there 30 years from now (in spirit or otherwise). Kudos to a great fan career!

The 24-0 score at half with complete domination played a part in that. And somehow we still outscored them 7-0 in the 3rd quarter!

I want fans back in their seats. I’ll be back in mine. But if they’re not because we’re up 3-4 touchdowns; I’ll be just fine with that too!

The place is going to be rocking tomorrow.

I was on the east side too. Yes it was loud when the interception happened. My main memory of the play is that my friend beside me spilled Schnapps on the guy in front of us and a fight nearly ensued while the rest of us were cheering.

Im really surprised Idaho returned tickets. I just took a look at the typical visiting section where the families sit. And wow. They returned a bunch. I was thinking Idaho might send 1000-1500 fans. Guess not. But also, oh darn. Haha

Hating the griz since 02.
