We've gone 7-6 vs the spread. We became somewhat of a running joke on the FCS subreddit this season for how often we didn't covercatatac wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2024 11:41 amWeather will have zero to do with the outcome of this one, unless ite ends up being super windy or something. mid 30's in December...
Also, 14.5 point spread according to Sports Bet MT. Have we had even ONE game this season where the Cats didn't cover the spread?

Re: Bobcats vs Idaho 3rd round predictions
No kidding, even when considering the OPENING line? Thanks for posting that, I am totally wrong then. I could have sworn each time I look at the opening line I think... I should bet on the other team because the Cats aren't beating them by THAT much... but they always seem to. Again, I guess I'm wrong.damnyoutuesday wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2024 2:38 pmWe've gone 7-6 vs the spread. Re: Bobcats vs Idaho 3rd round predictions
Several factors point to this being a much closer game:
+ It's very hard to beat a good team twice in one season. Recent stats show that the winning team wins only 60.6% of the second game.
+ Idaho has their amazing quarterback back into the fold, and he can spin it. He plays one down at a time and has ice-water in his veins. He's a stud.
+ Their kicker and punter have strong legs. I'm not sure which of the 4 legs is the strongest.
+ Coach Eck will pull out all the stops and have them prepared. My source tells me they have been watching film and picked up on several tendencies of the Cats. He has also stressed limiting turnovers and doing well on third down.
+ Idaho will limit the Cats' big play opportunities and weather the storm. They will also establish their running game and convert on several opportunities. The Vandals will dominate the trenches in order to pound the rock. This is where the game will be won and lost.
+ The Vandals will have revenge on their minds, and there is nothing like a wounded animal. No doubt they will give 110% and play hard regardless of the score.
+ Crowd noise will not be a factor. Idaho played at Oregon and has seen TikTok videos of Washington-Grizzly Stadium (which will be empty this weekend).
Considering all of this, I predict a closer game this time:
Cats 38
Vandals 8

Re: Bobcats vs Idaho 3rd round predictions
In the last month, Vandals beat a two win Portland State by 9, beat a 3 win Weber State team at home by one touchdown, finished off Idaho State by a good margin on the road and then routed an unseeded bubble team in the playoffs. I’m not overlooking their talent or coaching, but I’m not really seeing a body of work that shows they are that much better than when they showed up in October.Prodigal Cat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 4:40 pmThem getting healthy will make them better and a harder out than the last time they came so:

That's why I gave them 3 more points than the October game.RyeCat wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2024 6:21 pmIn the last month, Vandals beat a two win Portland State by 9, beat a 3 win Weber State team at home by one touchdown, finished off Idaho State by a good margin on the road and then routed an unseeded bubble team in the playoffs. "The way Montana State played us last time, I don’t know that there were many teams that could have beat them, less than 20 teams in FBS.” - Eck
That's high praise for our program. I don't know much of Eck, but he seems like a stand-up guy.

Definitely! Eck is phenomenal. It was talked about during Idaho Pt1 in October, but barring major roster depletion from the Portal, Idaho should be really really good next year.
Eck was also rumored for both Utah State and Fresno. That alone tells you he is highly thought of.

Lol!! That is classic coach speak. I remember when erk Russell was talking to the press before they played the jizz and was talking like he was scared to death of them because of their massive OL.... GSU promptly came out and squashed them.

Re: Bobcats vs Idaho 3rd round predictions
No doubt, geez it seems like they are really hyping up the "Injury depleted" talk as of the last go round. I mean I think we were missing 4 or 5 starters as well. At any rate, I'm sure they'll come in fired up with a chip on their shoulders, but the way this Bobcat team has done things for THIRTEEN games this season, I just don't see much of a departure from that. I mean sure there could be a mistake or two but it seems like EVERY time this team makes a mistake, that player or team makes up for immediately with a huge play. I think one big question here is... is Idaho going to be the first team all season long to score against this Bobcat defense in the first quarter?rfischer94 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2024 3:03 pm"The Vandals, winners of six straight since their loss to the ’Cats, bring the momentum of a runaway freight train and a roster at full strength after dispatching Lehigh, 34-13, in the second round of the FCS playoffs."
