Interesting SOS is supposedly poor, but 4 in top 40 just in BSC 3 in 10. Utah Tech really low nut a close win over them is supposedly getting Southern Utah consideration. Maine had ranked win. New Mexico only 107 but has a ranked win. Beat Hawaii they are bowl eligible. 5th In conference. Better than 107.
Massey sucks. But it’s the best one. Someone should be able to develop a better version.

MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

I don't know how much difference it would have made if New Mexico was 'Bowl Eligible' but it couldn't of hurt. They ended up 5-7 and have several close games they could have won to get to 6 wins.......

Oct 26....scored just 6 pts @ Colorado St and loss 6-17 (against previous MSU Defensive Coordinator Freddie Banks)
Nov 2....gave up 49 pts at home to Wyoming and loss 45-49
Nov 30...loss 30-38 at Hawaii

Giving up 49 at home to Wyoming was a game they coulda, shoulda, woulda.... oooo sooo close.

Probably zero difference since the FCS bracket was set before they played their 12th game. I highly doubt it would've mattered much anyway (if MSU hadn't ended up as the clear #1 seed), as based on what the committee said about how they seeded the #2 - #5 teams I think it was based far more on number of D-1 and ranked wins than on comparing the relative strengths of each team's FBS opponent.

It's a Christmas miracle, the Bobcats have finally reached #1 in the Massey Ratings!

Now at 19 SOS.

Interesting that NAU jumped one spot to 17 after their [48] offense was blanked.

Surprising the gris stayed at #8 after a very less than inspiring game at SDSU. Then again, maybe with those under them also being less than inspiring they stay in place by default.

As teams continue to leave for the FBS, the depth of the FCS suffers. You’re seeing that with our rival’s continued high ranking. There isn’t the depth that there used to be.

It probably has something to do with it being a close game in the computers mind.
