Well crap…. The Cats have other linebackers, but definitely not a “replacement” for Danny. He’s been such a great player for the Cats, I truly feel for him… So, who is the “next man up” behind him?

Dang that's a huge loss. I feel so bad for the guy, he was primed to have an incredible senior season.

Bryce Grebe seems like he's been the best LB of the backups, it'll be interesting to see how the coaches replace him. I think having Polidore will at least make up or some inexperience at the LB spot.

First and goal, clock winding down. That's Humphrey! It's TOUCHDOWN MONTANA STATE!

Damn, expected, but damn….

LB depth was a concern coming into the season but we’d be ok if our 2 starters stayed healthy.

Let’s hope all the playing time the 2’s and 3’s have had this year so far pays dividends now.

Redshirt freshman Bryce Grebe and redshirt soph Neil Daily. Bryce is a banger in the run game but doesn't have Neil's athleticism. Neil is more "Troy-light" meaning he is long and can really run but not as gifted as Troy in the instincts department. Again, no idea what is going on with Cole Bullock but it appears he has fallen out of favor. Ryan Krahe is another redshirt sophomore who has slowly been improving. Anyway, these are the four that we have to roll with McCade at this point. Bobby Daly is a hell of a LB coach so he's going to prove his value the rest of the way!

Torn ACL University. Poilidore and Davis evidently had knee surgeries as well.

So does he take a medical? Are there exceptions for the 30% rule? I’m googling to much of no avail

So those two, Dowler, Schmidt, and now Danny U... I know football is a rough sport, and injuries happen, but is there something different that should be addressed in their strength training and workouts? I know the strength coach does a fantastic job overall, it just seems like alot of guys with the same, or similar, injury.

Dirty hits, bad luck, and a much more physical game than in years past. Of course, that's just my opinion.

I think Danny U's injury was more just bad luck. I do not know how much experience he has had running the ball in the chaotic atmosphere of an interception, (or running the ball at all), but his run seemed a bit awkward.
I am assuming he will be in Portland to help coach and back up his brothers on the sidelines unless he has surgery this week. Great player and teammate for the Bobcats. Tip of the hat to Captain Danny U! Thanks for being a Bobcat!

Yes we do have this conversation every year and I don’t think there is any correlation between strength training and the knee injuries, but I have no clue. I do wonder about the field though, I wish it was grass but then you would need a sub air system underneath so it doesn’t turn to soup like it used to. I’m guessing that is way out of the question, but all these no contact knee injuries suck ass. Feel terrible for the guys that have to go through it.

If your left, you aren’t right.

How about Cole Taylor? I believe he is a redshirt freshman. Still young, but physically and athletically he checks a lot of the boxes (from what I remember when he was recruited).

There’s a fine line between physical and dirty, but I don’t think Idaho was dirty.

Plays special teams but the kids who have played when the 2s and 3s come in are those four listed above. Cole is probably working his way into that mix.

It is a huge blow to lose Danny U. Hate to see a senior that has given us his all go out like that. I wish him all of the best in his recovery and thank him for his time at MSU! That statement also goes for Blake and Caden, just did not always catch this thread until today!

Not entirely convinced of that...watched a ton of BS/FCS football over the years and you don't see these season ending/serious injuries #'s, per say, at dUMb, the DSU's, etc. And consistently. Perkins, Davis, Polidore, Schmidt, Danny, Dowler all All Conf. type players. Not to mention the last couple years, too. JMO.

After watching Vigens presser from this morning I came away with the impression that Neil Daly will be the guy they expect to step up and carry forward. Nothing like being thrust into the spotlight early on! The upside is that the knowledge and experience he’ll gain the reminder of this season should give him a massive edge for the next few seasons mentally and physically.
