Exactly this. Unfortunately deep kickoffs just aren't a needed thing in the NFL so he would only garner attention as a punter really.

His kickoffs are very high but I’m not sure if that’s a thing.

All 5 of NDSU's o-line from our matchup in the Natty are now in the NFL. All five. I remember the line of scrimmage getting moved 5 yards back every time they snapped the ball. Not sure there are SEC teams with that kind of talent in the trenches. There was quite a bit of NFL talent on the field that day.

That is insane. No wonder they were able to tear through our defense that day.Prodigal Cat wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 9:12 am

Re: Random stuff 2024
I think that's what we all forget about. There are 32 punters on active rosters. The Bears seemed crazy for getting that punter from Iowa in the 4th round this year. And you might as well poach a guy from the CFL who has a bigger sample size on his resume. On average, about two punters a year get drafted, and the vast majority are in rounds 5-7. Three punters have been picked in the 3rd round in the last 20 years, and the last time one went in the 2nd round was 1995.MSU01 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 8:22 amNot sure if I've ever seen much attention paid to NFL kicker/punter prospects. Very few punters get drafted of course, but I have little doubt that Hall will at least get some looks from NFL teams as a punter. If I'm reading the stats correctly his net punting average from 2023 would have been #1 in the entire FBS division if you only look at full-time punters and exclude players who only had one or two punts that went for long yardage. That said, it has to be hard to break into the NFL at that position when so many of the punters stick with a team and have long careers well into their 30s or even 40s.The Butcher wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 7:56 amI've been curious why he hasn't garnered more attention as a NFL prospect to date. I understand he's a kicker/punter, but he truly excels in both kickoffs and punts.

The NFL is big on measurables. I wonder if Hall will be considered to tall, or "long", for the NFL. I don't think he's had a punt blocked at MSU but it often looks close.kennethnoisewater wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 9:46 amI think that's what we all forget about. Came across this article on ESPN last night about our nemesis teams to the east and their ability to keep players from transferring or leaving early:AFCAT wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 10:35 pmDaniel Hardy in that photo too. Good article. Kind of people I grew up with. There are more important things than money, Even though we all need it. The culture of those two programs definitely dictates the results they’ve gotten. Something to admire.cat-o-nine wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 6:51 amCame across this article on ESPN last night about our nemesis teams to the east and their ability to keep players from transferring or leaving early:AFCAT wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 10:35 pmDaniel Hardy in that photo too. I'm sure everyone knows there is college football on TV today. Most eyes will be on the NDSU-Colorado game but a future Bobcat opponent, Mercyhurst, is playing today too. I'm sure everyone is worried about Mercyhurst possibly tripping up the Cats, LOL, but you might want to put their game on just for fun and to see what kind of talent they have.

Mercyhurst is going on the road today to play Division II Wheeling University. I highly doubt it will be broadcast on ESPN+ or anywhere else, and if you have the desire to watch this game over NDSU/Colorado I would suggest reconsidering your priorities and to let the coaching staff handle the scouting of future opponents!
