Hopefully the recruits figure out how to ‘like’ posts so people can figure it out. Instead of hittingmslacatfan wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 3:18 pmHard to get as excited about these if we don’t ever get to actually find out who the recruit is…. Haha

I think its safe to say the Cats have never had two QBs on the roster from Oklahoma before. He had some FBS offers too, but it looks like they may have fallen through when he switched high schools his senior year. He will probably play a prep year this season since he is listed as a 2025 commit.

Chose the Cats over a bunch of FBS teams. Had a handful of MAC offers and some Sun Belt teams like Arkansas St and Marshall.

I don't believe those offers were still valid. He was a senior this past season and didn't sign last signing period. Regardless, he is talented enough to have received those offers.Prodigal Cat wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2024 12:28 pmChose the Cats over a bunch of FBS teams. Okay, I get to be the first to say it!
A River runs through it and now throws as well.
Okay, I'll take a break for a while.

Just thinking a bit. Does this mean the Cats don't sign Grant Vigen? Do you take two really good QBs in the same class?

If you can sign two scholarship worthy QB’s in the same class, you do it.
That’s just my take. It’s the most important position, and one of the hardest to evaluate. In regards to Grant, he has size and a big arm, but he’s not super mobile and not very accurate. He’s a good prospect, but he needs a lot of developing.

The Cats also don't have to give Vigen a full ride since Dad is an employee of the university, so they do save some cash with the partial tuition waiver.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2024 1:29 pmIf you can sign two scholarship worthy QB’s in the same class, you do it.

I think it's still pretty likely. I don't think it's very likely that MSU will sign any other really good QBs besides Vigen though.

Attended Del City HS his senior year after a season at Bishop Guinness HS (enrollment 380). Both schools are in the OKC area. Del City has an enrollment of about 1,150. Del City went 13-1 losing its last game in the 5A (2nd highest level) championship 35-14 to a team with four Oklahoma Sooner commits on it. Warren threw at least one TD in that game tying the game at 7-7. It was Del City's first title game appearance in 47 years. In the semi-final win, Warren threw for 246 yards and three TDs.
Warren put up huge numbers his senior season: 11 games (not sure yet if he missed two or stats aren't complete), 135-185-5, (73%); 32 TDs, 2,288 yards. 12.4 yards per pass attempt. He's a 247 3-star. 6'3", 195 lbs.

I guess we're going out on a limb here and saying the 5th commit is River and the 4th commit is still unknown. Makes sense with the timing and proximity to the boom. I'll get the title of the thread updated.

there is an article behind a pay wall (if someone would just pay for it) that talks about his not committing after 2023 season. also some chatter about being recruited by the coach at Northwestern until the coach was fired.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2024 3:20 pmAttended Del City HS his senior year after a season at Bishop Guinness HS (enrollment 380).
