interesting and I wonder how it filters to FCS. Thanks for the link Colter.
Maybe this is why there's not much talk about UM and MSU moving up. Maybe teams will be dropping down to FCS.
I'm curious about how many FBS teams/athletic programs are losing money every year. I know Reno football has lost millions every year for the past few years at least.
Before the giant tv contracts didn't essentially all teams lose money? It's only in the last decade that they started turning a profit, or at least one that they couldn't hide with accounting tricks.
Even in the article it mentioned that Georgia Tech barely made money last year in one of their best financial years. This latest round of legal losses will greatly accelerate the divide between the top 50 and everyone else.
As far as MSU and Missoula moving up, I don't think the latest events change anything. The quality of the teams has nothing to do with getting an invite and may actually be detrimental. Why would the G5 invite teams that bring next to nothing financially to the table but could beat the teams that do?
Here is an interesting recent article.
“The majority of universities in the nation's top athletic conferences lost money through their sports programs to the tune of approximately $16 million each.”
https://www.bestcolleges.com/news/analy ... ake-money/
A bit more discussion on how the multibillion settlement will be split between power conferences 40% and everyone else 60%. As well as some discussion on revenue caps, etc. Needless to say, buckle your seat belt because this show ain’t over….and the future vision is unclear to me. Still not clear to me how the lower revenue schools sports programs can survive and how women sports may be impacted.

There is some very concerning information in this article from The Denver Post. Sorry I couldn’t post a link.

How in the world did Northern Colorado make $22.4 million in athletics revenue in one year?

Revenue is probably the wrong word, more like budget. I assume their student athletic fees and state funding provide most of the budget.

Ok, that makes sense.

Yeah, this Next Level outfit is tied to Nike, so they can do what they want (with licensing permission from MSU). MSU Athletics just re-upped with Under Armour, so Nike isn't coming any time soon. The MSU Bookstore and other retailers (and non-MSU camps) are allowed to put MSU's logo on any brand they want (again, paying royalties and following MSU's style guide).

I don't want to tell an artist what to paint, but a bobcat might be the perfect animal to put on canvas or whatever surface someone is using. If he does action scenes, then maybe a player painting would sell too. I may just bid on them.

I like to assume he sent the back half of that painting to Bobby.

They must be predicting that we win Cat-griz since they have us above the griz in their order of finish. I can't see another conference loss on the griz schedule unless they trip up in Cheney or against Weber.

Honestly thats kinda their MO. They usually lose a game they shouldn't (see NAU 2023). I'm glad a national writer sees it this way. Picking the griz to win the BSC over MSU is ignoring some huge ??. Unproven QB, significant losses on the DL and OL that i'm not sure they've replaced. Going to the transfer well sometimes works great and other times it completely blows up and holy crap they are bringing in some transfers. Cats should be favored to win the Conference based on returning talent, schedule to anyone paying attention.

That's very cool. Lindy's has been around a long time. I wonder how close he came in the Pro Bowl voting (who votes on this anyway?). I know he gets knocked for missing tackles but also makes a lot.
MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).
