I bet coffee cans filled with cement with an eye bolt in the center to tie off each corner would do the trick.
Some resourceful sport or club should do this and sell blue and cold buckets of cement....

NIL money maybe?
The local Cub Scouts or Boy Scouts or any other organization wanting some easy money should start collecting aluminum cans during games.

Wouldnt be the first time Home Depot buckets have been to a Bobcat Football event. I can think of at least one other college in Montana that cant say that.

I put one bag of quikrete in each of 4 - 5 gallon buckets. We just bungy cord them to each leg. We have had 0 issues with that. I should have put eye bolts but err'd on the the side of "get er done".

Yep, that is one of our thoughts. Some sand bags probably that we can put on the posts themselves and then some buckets with concrete and and bolt in it to then do some additional tie downs.

Do 5 gallon buckets from Kenyon. Or Ace. Since they are locally owned. Or Murdochs since it's headquarters is in Bozeman.

Depends on how much weight is needed.

5 gal water: 41 lbs
5 gal concrete: 100 lbs

Is the scoreboard complete or is there still some work to do on it?

MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

I saw some weather cam images online this past week and it looked like the board still needed a lot of the surrounding metal can work to be finished.

Yes!

The school should run water lines under the parking lot and spickets before they pout asphalt.

What kind of net is going to be put up to protect the scoreboard from field goals and p.a.t’s? They have a specialists camp middle of June, unless they plan on having them kick on the south end zone.

This is what I’ve done while holding down portable gazebo’s in storms. Works great and easier to deal with than the concrete. Bottles get light and stored easily and then you water down the lot when done!

Probably the same net that’s been there for the past three seasons. I’m sure the board is built to withstand those kind of hits too.
