Interesting that Victor's sources told him he wouldn't be returning regardless.

That’s not what he said necessarily.

Re: Housewright to Akron
Would it be completely out of the question that he was told to move on and his mentor hired him as a safe landing spot with the DUI charges still over Housewroght’s head? He won’t have nearly the play-calling responsibilities at Akron as Moorhead will continue to heavily influence, if not actually call, the plays. Seems like a good spot to lay low for a few years and rebuild his reputation both off the field and also work on how he treats players without fans and boosters watching his every move as it would be in Bozeman.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 12:42 pmReunited with Joe Moorhead. Wonder if Tyler Roehl would be interested…probably not.
Seems like a nice, clean break from each other for both parties.

I’d be upset as well since Carroll has been a defensive coach his entire career. A 70+ year-old first-time offensive coordinator with no previous offensive responsibilities would be a fireable offense.

Portal is closed for our players so wouldn’t be anyone in the current roster. Maybe incoming recruitsRobertCats wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 12:59 pmThink Housewright tries to bring any players with him? Can't imagine Akron has a HUGE NIL checkbook but you never know. On a side note, what are the rules with transfers signing? I know Samora Ezekiel mentioned Housewright several times in his interview that House was a big reason he chose MSU. Players seemed to like TH![]()

It’s possible, but coaches don’t give out OC jobs like candy, and it comes with a substantial raise. So it’s possible, but unlikely imo.PapaG wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 2:58 pmWould it be completely out of the question that he was told to move on and his mentor hired him as a safe landing spot with the DUI charges still over Housewroght’s head? Being an OC is more than just calling plays, btw.

Re: Housewright to Akron
I wonder if the players knew housewrght was gone before now? It might’ve made a difference if they knew when the portal was still open. Perhaps a business decision was made that Vigen would give him a good recommendation if he hung around until the portal was closed. Or perhaps he did it as a favor to Vigen or perhaps it just worked out that way. We will probably never know. I like our chances of getting hiring a good coordinator with vegan’s reputation, as well as a returning offence.dcbeck wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 3:11 pmPortal is closed for our players so wouldn’t be anyone in the current roster. That scenario is more likely what people that don't like him want to be true rather than what is actually true. It could be the case but Housewright probably just used his success at MSU to earn an FBS job with someone he has a history with. Moving up a level isn't exactly a "safe landing", it's earned.PapaG wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 2:58 pmWould it be completely out of the question that he was told to move on and his mentor hired him as a safe landing spot with the DUI charges still over Housewroght’s head? WMG getting hired here is an example of what you're thinking of.

Sam Mix will almost certainly leave with Housewright as well.RobertCats wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 12:59 pmThink Housewright tries to bring any players with him? I know a lot of the recruits mentioned him and he was big in recruiting WA.

Re: Housewright to Akron
Gee thanks, had no clue prior to this moment that an OC had more responsibilities than just calling plays during a game because this was my first season following the ol’ gridiron.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 3:17 pmIt’s possible, but coaches don’t give out OC jobs like candy, and it comes with a substantial raise. Someone had to have hacked Chambers' account. I was told on BN that he and Housewright don't get along.

I sure hope we don't see a mass exodus of players or new recruits. I know most of BN was unhappy with him but sure seems like that wasn't the case with the players.
Having the chance to coach back home was probably really appealing. Does he have a wife and kids? I've never really heard that. Anyway, could sure be a draw being closer to family, and a step up to the FBS to boot. Wish him the best. Interested to see who replaces him.

I don't think most players will have too bad a taste when it is him moving up to FBS. I imagine they will be happy for him, like Shawn shows.
