Think of this as something coming from MSU's advertising budget. So it is really staying with MSU. At a time when the state could only be talking about the gris going to Frisco, they're talking about MSU giving the band $. So the ROI on that $3k is huge!

I read it with an ESPN bi-line the other day.
Kcatz, I’m trying very hard to be ok with it…and your explanation helps… but I live in the Flathead Valley and have for 53 years. I’ve listened to their Bullsh*** for 53 yrs.. for GRiZnationalist to preach to me about butt hurt… I’m guessing he buys a few game tickets and a hoodie every 2-3 yrs. Got on the band wagon when he mastered the skin flute, for nothing better to do then get on his rivals board from his mothers basement on his mothers wifi and tell me
I’m butt hurt… yah I am…pissed is a better word..I hoping they get boat raced, destroyed in that game. But whatever you do Big Brother “ please don’t embarrass the state”
Actually it was my hot take. Kcatz was quoting me.

I was just coming to correct them Lute. The original post was very long so I just tried to quote the important part.

As for WBTFG I think you are trying to be funny....
But just in case the article was sourced as an ESPN article rather than quoting some other story ESPN pickes it up, edited it and called it their own. Which goes to show how much publicity MSU got out of it. For free ESPN re-wrote the story and shared it electronically.

This is a class act by an excellent university. The MSU announcement says MSU is proud to contribute. I don’t think the butt hurt guys who posted negative, inaccurate comments above are representative of Bobcat Nation.
It is a classy excellent thing for a proud MSU to do. After pointing that out you could've shown class and excellence by making a point of writing "Thank you" and let it be at that. Instead your head and thoughts were so focused on making a far less important point that you forgot to do the greater thing. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that it shows your lack of training rather than tell you the other things it shows about you.
I have zero problems with what he wrote. Zero. He's right. The comments that were negative do not represent Bobcatnation by and large.

Total difference between supporting their football team and supporting their band.
Nobody is "right" about a subjective opinion. Just because you might agree with him doesn't mean he is right.

I don't have a big issue with giving them 3k because that really isn't very much in the grand scheme of what it will cost for travel, food, lodging for their entire band, and it is a solid PR move for MSU. I get it and I'm ok with it.
But the other side of the coin is that when people donate their money to MSU they presumably want it to be spent on MSU. If they wanted their money to goto um then they probably would've written them a check themselves.

Just something to consider, that there are 2 sides to it.
The two sides to it are generosity and pettiness. MSU did a neat, generous thing that the vast majority of Bobcat fans on social media are praising (check the Facebook comments on the various news story posts). How can you seriously criticize your university for this demonstration of good will? I guess I don’t care about the answer because it’s only a few butt hurt who are grumbling. Thanks, MSU.
On the flip side, seems like there’s a decent amount of UM fans that can’t graciously accept the donation either.

Looking at guy Brint, and what looks like most of eGriz.
I find that most of those type of guys don't bother to donate. They just want to complain about something.
GSA donor
QB Club donor
NIL donor
Learfield / corporate partner
FB & BB season ticket holder
GSA license plates
Play in the FB, GSA, and Golf summer scrambles
Sponsor golf holes for the GSA
Host a tailgate at every home game

And...

I donated to help the band as well.

Thanks for thinking of me guys!

Holy s@#& that might be the dumbest gris
twitter post I've ever seen. And I've seen a lot of their 'big brain" posts. Knocking MSU for helping the um band??????? Brint (is that short for something. Nobody has that first name. I knew a guy in missoula with the first name brintley?) Same guy?? Anyways that Twitter post from (brintley?) Says a lot. Symbolic. Gris fans like brintley have low IQ and more importantly low standards when comes to integrity or morality. Hey how about a thanks to MT ST for helping the gris band?? A straight thanks. Not one buried in ten layers of bull @&>/
I'm pretty dumb but not the dumbest. The long form of FTC was just in fun but then as wbtfg and others pointed out, MSU was super generous to help our band get to Frisco which is cool.

Safe to assume the cat fans clutching their pearls here never ever say "FTG" or wear hats/shirts/hoodies or post it online then?

I think it was more about the context, and I'm sure you know this.
Many people say FTG and FTC. But yours was in response to MSU giving $3000 to the um band. "F**K the cats but thanks for the 3k" is a pretty douchey response to a donation IMO. If it were my money I would've yanked it right back after that.
But you do you.

Mine wasn’t in response to the donation, I replied to my prior tweet with the thanks memo.

Also probably very big of MSU admins to recognize support for students on our great state than to let tweets of moron fans like me influence them haha.

No, you could've just tweeted the "thanks" part but you decided to attach to the "fk the Cats" part.

And you aren't some random moron on Twitter. You're a well known griz booster, known to many griz players and coaches, you're on the griz fan podcast, and you're a local businessman. Like it or not, what you tweet carries more weight than random idiots on Twitter, and will get noticed more.

Not after MSU just donated $3,000 to your institution. Pretty bad look by you. It would have been easy to just say thanks and that was pretty cool. Total dick comment on your part.

Also safe to say um is NOT likely to ever help the MSU band as MSU has done for the um band (x2). Especially with hack as head coach. If they ever did I would say thank you UM. I wouldn't bury it stupid passive aggressive BS like "clutching pearls" or be worried about what hoodies people are wearing. I would just say thank you and be happy that UM would return the damn favor. It is a favor from MSU.

Didn’t UM lend bench heaters to the cats during your home playoff run just very recently? I’ll have to look for your thank you on that. Griz raised 200k to send the band and MSU contributed 3k toward that (1.5%). People here are acting like MSU is the only reason the Griz band is going to Frisco 😆

Plenty of non-Griz Montanans, Cats fans and SotW friends pitched in as well. Please don't take every donation from our great state as proxy for fandom.

You kidding?? The heated benches were given to our opponent, William & Mary. It was kind of a thing and was discussed in detail here many times.
You must be trolling.

It’s a long tradition. In 1984, the gris lent turf shoes to Arkansas State in the playoffs.

Myths such as these just add to the mystique of a program that has averaged 1 National Championship game appearance every 3 seasons over nearly 3 decades.
