Not sure if we had a thread on him going in the portal.

Just saw this myself. Had no idea he was in the portal.

O-line continues to take hits. NIL money is unlikely to be a factor here. Why Kennesaw State?? Thats an FCS in Georgia and Kettles is from Washington state I believe. Just a strange move.

Kennesaw State moved up to FBS. Next year is their first year.

They moved up. FBS now. But yes, it's still a strange move in my judgment.

Kennesaw isn't even a state.

He was listed two weeks ago with Omar as they entered close together. KSU will be C-USA FBS soon.

It probably is a better place to get noticed if Moore and Wehr both return to MSU in 2024 and take the two starting tackle positions.

He transferred because he wants to start and he most likely wasn’t going to here.

Along with a few younger guys pushing to make the 2 deep.

I don’t consider him to be a portal casualty. As you pointed out he probably wasn’t going to start at MSU next year and he wants to get on the field. I’m fairly certain he isn’t going to Kennesaw because it’s going FBS.

MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

I thought there was a capacity minimum for football stadiums when you move up? Kennesaw’s stadium is like 9,000 capacity and they draw below that during the year. I just thought I remember somebody saying that their were capacity stipulations and attendance benchmarks that need to be met before you can move up.

They dropped that quite awhile ago. Now its just $5 million along with the other requirements (scholarships/ #of sports...)

That's likely why he chose not to capitalize the "s" in "state" in his tweet.

Looked at their 2023 schedule and yikes, they went 3-6. Seemingly struggled to secure opponents since they only played 9 games, and the disparity becomes even more evident when you consider their three victories. They managed to beat Tusculum University (DII), Lincoln University (DII), and Virginia-Lynchburg (DIII). The move to FBS might prove to be a challenging transition for them.

Well they added FB like 8 years ago and we're never really a good FCS team except for 1 year. They'll be a bottom dweller.

The three they defeated has a combined record of 6-26 including Lincoln University, 0-12. Tusculum was ranked 62nd in D2... Sounds like a strange pick.

Family lives in South Carolina. Graduates from MSU in the spring. 2 years eligibility = two years for master's degree. Full boat FBS plus...
KSU Head Coach with the same intensity and fire as Choate - Kettels was a Choate recruit. "not a better place to get noticed"... If that is truly his motive...Second largest school in Georgia in terms of attendance, suburb of Atlanta - multiply the Donor base by ??, Conference USA National TV deal with CBS and ESPN, NIL possibilities Atlanta, GA vs Bozeman, MT. Experienced contributor from MSU moving to make immediate impact to support new FBS team and establish legacy - Similar to what Choate was preaching early on.

Congrats Kettels! Thanks for your contribution to the Cats! Thanks for staying in the arena, which allows those outside their opinions...as "odd, strange, bottom dwelling" and ill-informed as they may be. \:D/ =D^
