Good news for RaeQuan.

Well yea for RaeQuan if this means he gets to play this year. Does this also mean that another great big door just opened up allowing even more athletes to easily flood away from FCS schools?
The ruling is only good for a couple of weeks, so if they want to take a huge chance now and hope the ruling isn't overturned, then go of it.
I have heard that the next ruling will be unlimited transfers for any student-athlete within their 4/5 years of eligibility without sitting out any time. Conceivably a player could RS their 4 games their first year and have open movement for four transfers, or even 8 I suppose if they last one semester. Other students aren’t restricted by sitting out as a transfer.

Seriously Papa are you just trying to be facetious? If you're comparing students on athletic scholarships with the majority of students at a university who are not there on any scholarship you're basically comparing apples to orange colored rocks and that's a failure. If you're comparing students on athletic scholarships to students on academic scholarships then it's an apples to oranges comparison and still a fail. You know that, so there should be no need to explain it to you. You going off into lala land doesn't help your argument. I say good day to you sir.

Looks like they did and that’s what’s happening here. The NCAA is keeping him from making his NIL money, so they took them to court. Kind of beats a hole in his playing for his mental health argument though. They may have switched tactics when that mental health argument didn’t fly or it really wasn’t the reason he moved to West Virginia in the first place.

It would be good for my mental health to get $250k to play basketball.

I’m saying this is something I’m hearing and it does make sense and seems to be the direction this is heading. The entire NIL fiasco was in response to the NCAA exploiting student-athletes and their image/likeness was to make billions of dollars off of them, and now there are rumblings of unlimited transfers and yearly negotiations for top players/free agents. Don’t shoot the messenger. This ruling is temporary but now the barn door is wide open in terms of player movement. If two transfers are fine, why not three, four, or even five if more money is offered? The Battle ruling basically makes players contract workers with freedom of movement after the contract expires.

I also read an article that was about the possibility of the next lawsuit being players suing the NCAA about the 4 year eligibility rule. Basically suing the NCAA for preventing them from making money by playing more years. All of this is fascinating...in a bad way.

Wait, so they want to stay in college longer than 4 years so they can keep playing sports that now pays them to play? So will we now see a lawsuit challenging eligibility based on grades? Because if they're a bad student that shouldn't impede their opportunity to play sports if they're a good athlete, especially when they can get paid big bucks to do it. What a train wreck. Isn't the NCAA the National College Athletics Association? College (school) comes before athletics in that title. This is a school sport, not the pros. Clearly we've lost sight of that. Sigh.

I agree...but the point was that anyone who wants to stay in college for, say, 10 years can. So why is the NCAA limiting their playing eligibility, especially now that they can make big bucks playing. It's a very slippery slope.

Extremely slippery. 30 year old players? Why should the NFL or any pro sport even exist if they can do it all in college? Stupid.

I figured Hatten would hit the portal, with all of the other Idaho skill players leaving.
Instead he's declaring for the draft. And Idaho will have entirely new offense next year.

I absolutely hated losing to Idaho. But, the conference and the FCS is better when Idaho is good. Eck built it quick, can he reload it quickly?

Makes sense, he's definitely an NFL talent and I can see why he may not feel like sticking around for a 6th year. I'll be happy when the Covid year thing is done and over with!

Idaho is definitely loosing some offense. This may hurt for a season.

Not that anyone isn't picking up on Hatten's announcement but just to be clear its him declaring for the NFL draft, not entering the transfer portal.
