Funny thing about him if that he contacted EWU first to try and go there. EWU didn’t have a scholly available and then MSU came calling and got him. Stroke of luck. I do think getting those type of players are going to be the exception rather than the rule going forward, especially if the Bobcat collective and other local NIL opportunities don’t start getting more generous. I’m going to double my monthly NIL contribution to benefit all the team but I’m only going to purchase the other stuff (shirts, hoodies, etc.) for seniors or Montana kids.

As of right now msu has Schmidt, Brott, Black, Korom, Marsh, Jaren Perkins, Sharbono at DT. Schmidt, Brott and Black are known commodities. I believe I saw Korom out there a few times. He’s a JC transfer. Marsh was 2022 Montana GPOY.

Lots of dudes waiting in the wings. The DTs were rotating four this year. I’m really looking forward to seeing how Solano looks this spring at DE. The side with Seymour and Alston will probably be Parsons, Crews, Vigen, Fredericks and maybe Solano. But I think Solano might be a better fit with Grebe and Eiden. He’s a pure pass rusher in their mold but bigger. I think he’s 6-4, 250 now.

Yes absolutely. TV money has its been pointed out many many times. We will get the big rich people to donate too who have no connection to MSU. They’ll be much more excited to have Boise State coming to town then University of Northern Colorado.

Several weeks ago I heard three names that had the potential to earn 6 figure NIL money if they enter the portal: Rush, Omar, Sebastian.

Unfortunately that came true. You can't blame these kids for chasing their dreams...it just sucks.

Yep, you can't blame them $ix figure$ has quite the pulling power but it really does suck. I knew there would be guys jumping into the portal and that Valdez could attract as much attention in the way of $ as almost anybody, but I went into this week feeling confident that he would be back. What gave me that confidence? Well Saturday night I saw him and nodded my head in recognition and gave him a big thumbs up. He actually initiated the conversation and along the way without me asking, said that he would be back next year which I told him was music to my ears. So now hearing that he has entered the portal it's as if the music suddenly stopped as someone scratched the needle across the whole LP (yes I'm old). This one hursts as much as any but good luck Mr. Valdez.

Players can come back to MSU if they aren’t picked up but, according to Vigen, it probably won’t happen. Look at the schools side, they can’t wait and hope someone returns, they have to recruit a replacement. There has only been one player that has gone in the portal and even remained on the team and that was a kicker. Vigen kept Luke Pawlak on the roster through the playoffs even though he went into the portal before the season ended.

Yes, plenty of proof of 6 figure NIL amounts. I put a couple links in another thread, including a tweet from Sam Herder that 3 current ndsu players have already received 6 figure NIL offers from FBS schools. One was 250k.

I think portal losses hurt more if it is a young starter because means you probably have younger unproven talent behind them. Seniors like Valdez more likely to have backups who have been in system 2 or 3 years.
I think NIL contracts should be public like coaches contracts. That info may help athletes decide if it is really worth it. Can track # who enter portal, land somewhere, and what their benefit is.

It wasn't a rumor tweet, it was an informational tweet and included a link to a media story about the 3 ndsu players. Like I said I posted it in another thread.

I'm not sure why it's so hard for people to believe this stuff. It's not like Bigfoot. There is actually sourced information out there.
