Ferris State @ friz
Two-time D2 defending champs Ferris State at the friz on 9/16. Long time head coach. Deep roster. Dare I dream?

Re: Ferris State @ friz
Going to be a good game if the Gris don’t have a QB.
Talent, Gris win 34-14 but if they lose, what a complete disaster. Could be a Danny Woodhead redux.

Re: Ferris State @ friz
Ferris State would easily be an FCS playoff team if they were playing at this level. Since 2020, they've had seven former players appear in an NFL regular season game. The Griz...one.
Griz fans should be absolutely pissed that their AD scheduled this game. It's a lose/lose for them - win and it's not a D-1 win for playoff consideration, lose and it counts against you.

Re: Ferris State @ friz
You take the crowd out of the game early, and your chances of winning in Wa-Griz goes up immensely. This one will be close at halftime…..not sure what happens after that.

Re: Ferris State @ friz
I know they are two time defending champs. But, do they return a bunch of starters from last year? I think that could be the difference. If they are loaded for another run at a Natty, this might be a good game.
Hating the griz since 02.

Re: Ferris State @ friz
Looks like they are picked to repeat by AFCA getting all 29 1st place votes. Massey has them losing to the gris 33-21. Massey has NW Missouri as the top D2 team with Ferris #2.

If the gris are still gonna run with their same defense the biggest thing for Ferris State is misdirection. If they're able to keep the gris linebackers guessing Ferris State could be productive.

With Robbie gone there's nobody on defense to tackle the Ferris State players.

That’s not going to stop um from giving Robbie credit for at least 15 tackles.coloradocat wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 9:54 amWith Robbie gone there's nobody on defense to tackle the Ferris State players.

Altitude altitude altitude. SEMO should not have had to play in Missoula ever and would have soundly beaten them at home in Missouri in their playoff game.

Re: Ferris State @ friz
Maybe you're right, but Missoula's elevation is 3,200 and change, which isn't that crazy. If 3,200 is that big of a factor, 1,600 feet higher in Bozeman should be a bigger factor...and nobody should be able to play in Flagstaff at 7,000! I do think they would have won at home, but the cold and the crowd and not traveling were bigger factors IMO.

I thought I read that he had been recognized “Tackler de Emeritae”. Once you attain “emeritus” status you get a lot of perks like that….if you even walk by a TV and even if it only maybe has the game on…the “tackle-o-meter” goes active when he walks by.AFCAT wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 10:17 amThat’s not going to stop um from giving Robbie credit for at least 15 tackles.coloradocat wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 9:54 amWith Robbie gone there's nobody on defense to tackle the Ferris State players.

my guess is booby will run the score up as high as he can. I expect he will play the starters the entire game. Even tho Ferris St has done exceptionally well i don't think they compete in the BSC. look who they play. I agree stupid game to schedule.

I can’t wait to see them pounding their chests for a 5th quarter their first 5 games. Reality always sets in for the gris come late October/ November. Then they get to watch the Cats in December!

Re: Ferris State @ friz
If you have to schedule a D2 game there are a couple good reasons to schedule a team like Ferris. Tests your players, may not count towards D1 wins but it is still recognized as a quality win. Chadron went undefeated in the regular season and that might have helped MSU make the playoffs. Had that been a 5-6 team, who knows what MSU’s fate would’ve been.
MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Maybe Christmas will come early for Cat fans. I have a employee who is Gris alumni and huge fan. I asked him yesterday at work if he’s ready for football and what his number #1 thought was on how the season would pan out for the BSC. His response was this “You know that Ferris St team we play early on, I’m extremely worried about it”
With success comes attention, with attention comes cockiness, with cockiness comes arrogance, with arrogance comes rudeness...and they wonder why I hate the Griz ! FTG

Re: Ferris State @ friz
Someone told me Ferris State has sent seven players to the NFL recently (Not sure what recently means... 5 years ,10 years, or what). The dark pinkies have sent one. That tells me a lot.BFcatfan wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2023 8:34 amMaybe Christmas will come early for Cat fans. I have a employee who is Gris alumni and huge fan. ...That venue [Wash-Griz Stadium] has seen many, many big time opponents and moments throughout its years and now it’s getting ready to open its doors to the most dominant squad Division II ball has seen in quite some time. Ferris State, often described as the “North Dakota State of Division II” has a very decorated past of their own. The Bulldogs have competed in three of the last four national championships, winning the last two both in dominant fashion. Perhaps even more impressive is the fact that Ferris has lost just five games since 2017. The Bulldogs rank among the country’s best teams (at any level) with eight consecutive seasons of 11 or more wins.
