Might be late to the party but…
Is it ok yet to say I think we’re going to beat SDSU and win the whole thing?
Don’t wanna be “cocky”.

Will our secondary take a step forward now that we have a full season of Rylan Ortt?

Week 1, you’re coaches for the week. Foley is OC and Thorny takes on the DC role. Who will your starters be?

Re: Golden Coolie Questions
Assuming our defense is similar to last year (maybe a little better), does the passing game need to improve significantly to get us to the top?

Re: Golden Coolie Questions
I posted this in a different thread, but has there ever been a collection of playmakers this deep and talented on any Bobcat offense, ever?

Re: Golden Coolie Questions
Okay, so knowing that we need to have the TE’s involved in the passing game as well as the option game… how do you do that?

Re: Golden Coolie Questions
With the proliferation of the offense and the limited chances at punting, do we develop plays on fourth down for the punting team to make plays and not actually punt?

Re: Golden Coolie Questions
Although we’ve lost Cole Sain to injury this year (the only starter that we’ve lost), from my count we have 8 OL that were starters last year return plus Titan Fleischman back from injury as well as other under classmen that are showing promise. We lost Ifanse (who only played in the post-season) at RB but return a healthy Elliot, Sumner, White, Coon, Humphrey (?), along with Wisconsin transfer Davis at RB, both our TE’s return as do both our starting QB’s. So, I think we’ll most likely be better at running the football this year vs last year. My only concern is that we lost OL coach Brian Armstrong, not that his replacement Al Johnson from Wisconsin doesn’t have a very impressive resume but that is certainly a significant change from last year.
We return Clevan Thomas, JR at WR who will be joined with Marqui Johnson, Ty McCullouch (CSU transfer), Lonyatta Alexander JR (Pac-?? transfer) along with Anaya, Williams & Garrigan, and both starting TE's & QB’s. These returners & transfers also provide a logical assumption that our pass game will be at least as good as last years.
Last year the CATS ran ~69% of the time & passed ~31% of the time.
My question is…..OVER/UNDER the 2023 CATS run 65% of the time…???

66% run averaging 7.2 a carry.
34% passing with 60% completion rate and 3% interception for an average per pass attempt of 14
2 yards.

Re: Golden Coolie Questions
Sacramento State "Hornet Stadium" has a capacity of 21,195. WIll our nationally televised ESPN 2 game with them on Satuday, October 21st with a local start time of 7:30 PM (PST) be "sold out"???
A record 23,237 fans packed Hornet Stadium for the 2022 Causeway Classic.
If our game with them does sellout this fall, what percentage of their fans will still have their "stingers up" at the end of the game???

Re: Golden Coolie Questions
This is a great question. I'll take a stab (because I can, lol) and say Lane Sumner. I have a feeling he's going to finally stay healthy and be a workhorse. Even though a "workhorse" in this offense might only be 12-15 carries a game.
Great time to be a BOBCAT!

Not one of the QBs? That surprises me a bit. I’d take Tommy I think. The +1 run game is too important to what we do.

Re: Golden Coolie Questions
I would say TM for rushing yards, but a RB for carries. QB are going to use the pass part of the RPO more, but they will make big gains when they do run it.JoeCatsJoe wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 12:24 amNot one of the QBs? That surprises me a bit.
